hey everyone. I'm a new LPN graduate who is looking for a job- go figure.  I've been hearing for many that the best thing to do is to get a year or two of med-surg under my belt while I complete my RN.  Is this true??  I'd love to work trauma, but am willing to put in the time elsewhere to get the needed experience.  Any advice?

The best thing to do it get a job at a teaching hospital, the experience you'll get there is beyond measure.  Med-Surg is a great place to start, but specialty floors/units will also accept new grades and you'll get plenty of experiience.  I wouldn't wait too long before going on the RN, go while LPN schooling is still fresh in your mind.
