More and more RNs are opening their own clinics and medical tech enterprises. Would you ever consider becoming a nurse entrepreneur? What do you think are the main cost/benefits?

I'm already thinking of becoming a nurse entrepreneur, but in opening a nurse staffing agency. I've been a travel nurse and figured out that the agency I started out with made about $400 million a year, off the backs of hard working nurses. and financially struggling hospitals. I don't expect to make millions, but I'd be happy to fill the need for nurses across the country, and make even a small slice of those millions. Half my family is encouraging me, but the other half ( with business experience) is not. We'll see what happens. I've also often thought of opening a nurse consultant office--not sure how llicensure and liability would play into that-- but I'm trying to learn. As for direct patient care as an RN, I think the profession of nursing has miles to go to be ready for that. As an advanced practice nurse, yes, absolutely.
