Yes...I beleive that stem cell research has a very promising potential, though we have to work through the controversy..

That's exactly the point I was going to make. I think it's a great use of the blood from the umbilical cord. With that said, I also think getting stem cells other ways is ok so long as you aren't doing any more harm to the person or animal. But I am very much against the harvesting of stem cells from embryos from women who have been PAID to create (with a little help, of course!) and carry the fetus until it is developed enough to be used for stem cell research (by abortion). It's disgusting. I don't know of that happening in the US, but it is a pretty lucrative "business" in some other countries. I wish I could find the article on it I read about 8 months ago.

Stem cell research when done ethically and morally is another fantastic step in the progress of medicine.

Excellent point! Unfortunately Big Pharm (and the Gov't.) are more interested in their bank accounts than in curing people. I read an article in a medical newspaper about 3 years ago that said we know of about 3,000 CURES for most cancers. But do we have them? NO! Why? Because Big Pharm is happy making TONS of money on mediocre treatments that may or may not work (not to mention the side effects). I know there are those of you out there who think I'm nuts, but I urge you to research it before you judge (hint: check out cancer death rates in Sweden, and the differences in treatments).
