The Heart of a Nursing Student

Posted almost 5 years ago Hello Everyone,
I am just encouraged by the great responses from my fellow members. It makes me think of the heart of a nursing student. A nursing student has heart, drive, persistence, endurance, compassion and a real, true, genuine desire to help others. Why else would we torture oursleves so? Why else would we put ourselves in such awkward, scary, uncomfortable situations (clinicals)? Why else would we put oursleves through such enormous amounts of stress? Why else would we voluntarily put ourselves in a position where we could make a fatal mistake? Nursing is a job with great amounts of stress and responsibility, it requires alot of knowledge, skill, and competence. I do suspect however that all you nursing students know this. I am very scared of all of this. I think though that one of my main problems is not remembering why I chose nursing and how awesome and wonderful the opportunity can be. We care for people and give of ourselves everyday we are on the floor. Nurses pour themselves out all over there paitients and hopefully we are pouring out love. Nurses work 12 hour shifts on their feet hustling between patients. I am in awe of nurses and always have been. As a little girl and even a teen I would just look at them with such respect and admiration. I just pray that some day I will have the title of R.N. it would be an honor! |
