I wanted to know if there was anyone out there, perhaps someone who works in a burn unit, who has had any experience with using Silvadene (silver sulfadiazine)?

I burned my hand last week pretty badly while I was using the clothing iron. I think it's a second degree burn. Anyway, I finally got a script for the Silvadene after a couple of days of using Aloe Vera gel with no success. So I have been using the Silvadene for about 4 days now and it looks like it is finally starting to heal.

My question is how long does it usually take for the Silvadene to heal the burn, and if  it also  was effective in preventing/minimizing scarring?
