Posted almost 6 years ago Does anyone have any useful references for writing care plans? It seems like in nursing school you are forever writing up care plans. |

Posted almost 6 years ago I don't have many good specific good referances, all recenct care plan books are about the same, and only should be used for ideas, and getting the though process going. They are also great for ideas if you're in your 1st few semesters, and need to learn formating an verbage. I do have many techniques and tricks i've learnd from some outstanding instructors. I can crank out "A" care plans quickly and efficiently. If Rationals need to be sighted that may take some time though. I've help many students learn to improve their care plans by teaching what I've learned.

Posted almost 6 years ago I highly recommend Nursing Diagnosis Handbook: A Guide to Planning Care (6th ed.) by Betty J. Ackley and Gail B. Ladwig. I recently graduated from nursing school and used this book for every care plan I did. It really helps when you have to site rationale. I've tried to use other care plan books, but I beleive none compare to this one.

Posted almost 6 years ago Can't remember the one I used. Cranked out care plans in 10 minutes after a while. Thank God I've never seen one since.

Posted over 5 years ago There are several good care plan books out there. Just make sure that you get one that includes the rationale.

Posted over 5 years ago I suggest http://www1.us.elsevierhealth.com/Evolve/Ackley/NDH6e/Constructor/ . It appears to be related to Ackley & Ladwig. Nursing Diagnosis Handbook: A Guide to Planning Care, 6th Edition. It lets you compose a printable nursing care plan. You can even contribute your own elements such as interventions. Good luck!
