Posted almost 5 years ago Hello Everyone, I am in need of advice or how to. It's been since 2006 that I have been interested in becoming a nurse. I've been taking some pre-req classes and may I add, doing very well. However, the nursing schools that I have come across with, (in Georgia, Azrizona, and Michigan), the counselors all tell me that it is very competitive, hard to get into and the waiting list is 2-5 years. This is very upsetting and not to mention discouraging. If anyone out there can help me, that would be great. sljoiner30 |

| Posted almost 5 years ago Hello, I chose to go to a school that had no waiting list. The catch was that the entrance into the program itself was competitive. The school takes your GPA,(which is based on MOST of your pre-reqs, but not all of them), bonus points left after completing pre-reqs and your HESI exam points and take the top 40 students. It is difficult to get in, but as long as your grades are good, and you do well on the HESI, you should be OK. I finished my pre-reqs with a 3.97, got an 87% on my HESI and had all 3 of the available bonus points and I was accepted into the program. There were over 100 applicants. Other schools have a waiting list and they do tend to be very long, which is why I chose the competitive one, it doesn't work for everyone, but it can work for you. I hope this helps Cheryl |
