Hi Jen,
How are you? I am also a new to the site and I am currently in my prereq classes. I have two more classes to take before I am eligible for the nursing program. How long does your program last? Once I'm enrolled in the program I will have two years and I will receive my Assoc in applied science for nursing as a RN. Good luck in your career. If you have any insite for me please feel free to share. I will do the same for you.

Thanks for replying. Right now I am attending a 4-year college to finish my prerequisites, since I work there and they pay tuition. I could stay there and do the BSN program, but I would rather do an Associates degree. I am taking Anatomy this semester and I am scared to death, I think it is going to kick my butt. Hopefully when I get into a nursing program it will only take me a couple of years, but I will be going part-time, so we'll see.

It's entirely encouraging to hear so many of you gung-ho about starting your nursing careers. I hope your passion can be contagious.

Good luck, I have been going part-time for 8years on and off. I finally completed all my preriquisites at a 2 year community college. And about Anatomy, I took a combination course of A&P, yes it is tough, but if you enjoy science in High School you will do good in your nursing science preriquisites.

I recommend reading all the articles about the different types of nursing programs, on this website. You must do all your preriquisites before you can apply to any nursing program. Anatomy, Physiology, Chemistry, English, Math, Microbiology, and Psychology are the main classes. It is cheaper to do these preriquisites at a community college.

It is so up lifting to know that there are so many people doing what I'm doing. I finally decided to make a change in my life last year, went back to school and have one more semester of prereqs before I apply to Nursing School. It scares me but I know that finally I will have so many doors open to me. A career that will help me help others and a more secure future. I'm 43 yrs young and feel like my life is just starting. I would appreciate any advice out there. Thanks.
