Hi guy, new here. Just took my nclex exam the other day and i can't help thinking about one of the Q's there about fluids? I was ask to calculate the total amount of fluid intake. These are Frozen fruit drops, Ice cream, 150cc NaCl, Mashed Potato. Q: are mashed potato considered as part of the fluid intake?

I would have to consider if they are liquified

or are they lumpy.

This would be a soft diet

and  as a nurse aid I would consider it food

I was always taught if you can see through it, it's considered a liquid and if you can't it's considered food.  So, the only thing I saw on your list, meeting this criteria is 150cc NACL

They may do it different at different places, but we always counted ice cream and popsicles as intake. We also counted soups. Did not count mashed potatoes.
