I don't mean to be rude, but I think you need a new profession. You said you became a nurse to alleviate the suffering of others. Well don't you think that cleaning someone up and getting them into a clean diaper alleviates their suffering? Not all suffering has to do with pain. What about the family? Has it ever occured to you that maybe she CAN'T clean her husband up? ( I guess it was her husband, your post was a little confusing on that point). Not physically, she may be emotionally unable to do it. On another note, do you think that the patient would be defecating like that on purpose? I can guarantee you that isn't the case. You need to work on your compassion for others. I promise you that if you were nursing any of my loved ones like that I'd be speaking to your supervisor and wouldn't allow you NEAR us. Think about that.

I have never thought that it was only someone elses job to clean a pt. Nurses are there to provide, protect, educate, clean, and advocate for pts. Making a pt feel comfortable and feel respected as a human being is part of our job.  No one likes to clean up stool, urine, emesis, or any other bodily fluid but I do b/c Im there for the pt. Because I am their nurse.

No, there was one. It was either removed by site admin. or edited by the original poster for some reason (embarassment???) Anyway, it was a complaint that nurses shouldn't have to clean pt's and it's the tech's job, yada, yada, yada. That's not the end of it by far, but it's the biggest point.
