As crazy as many people may find this I love LTC/ALF. I am bored with the floor nursing aspect, and I hate micro management i.e. DON, ADON.  I want a position where I can have some hands on patient care,  write and implement policy and procedures, write and implement staff/patient training programs.  I really enjoyed going in a troubled building and bringing it back in compliance, but after that I am ready to move on.  Is there such a position out there?  Please help!!!!!!

I don't know of any positions like that at this time. That doesnt mean there isn't tho.You may have to have 2 positions, one where you do managerial type nnursing, the other a per diem or part time floor nursing

Breniaha - I love your name, what does it mean?  Are you of a certain nationality?  I would look into educational positions in LTC or ALF - maybe staff development coordinator?  Some places want RNs but some do not require that.  Also, see if you could work in education in a hospital - all of these positions have on hands care, policy implementation and writing opportunities, and plenty of training and education.  Good luck to you!  Let me know if you have any more questions.  I am currently Staff Development Coordinator at a LTC - I have my RN and MSN in gerontology.  I was also a Nurse Educator in a large hospital system and a Clinical Nurse Specialist.  Take care!!
