Posted almost 5 years ago Has anyone taken Kaplan? Is it worth the $500 dollars? I finish my program in a little over 2 months. I have a couple of classmates that have signed up to take Kaplan and they are trying to get me to sign up too. Any reviews? The info says that there is a money back guarantee if I do not pass boards on the first try. |

| Posted over 4 years ago Hi Zonnie I just took the Kaplan class at my college. We used The RN Course Book, Preparation for the NCLEX-RN Examination (11th edition). I think it cost me just under $400.00. The class itself covered a lot of information. My Kaplan instructor was also my pharmacology professor (she's an awesome instructor). I used the online sections (at home) every single day once I had access to it. I found it to be great for studying and reviewing. I (like so many other students) bought several NCLEX review books. Out of all the ones I have, I would highly recommend the Saunders Comprehensive Review for the NCLEX-RN Examination (4th edition by Linda Anne Silvestri). It has a ton of information. This book would also be great for students just entering nursing school. I alternated studying for the exam with these 2 books, in addition to attending the Kaplan class. I passed the boards in 75 questions on my first try! I also debated whether or not to take the Kaplan review class. I thought...oh, brother, $400 more out of my pocket? Then I thought....what the heck? The little voice inside my head said if you don't take the review class and you don't pass the boards, you'll be beating yourself up for not doing so. I think I got a lot out of Kaplan. I'd be interested in hearing what other people think about the Kaplan class.... Just a word of advice for anyone taking the Kaplan class: use the guidelines in the beginning of the book to chart your progress (enter dates, scores, etc) in order to be covered by the money back guarantee. I'm sure if you don't and you fail the exam, Kaplan can respond by saying that you didn't follow their instructions for success at the NCLEX exam. Good luck! |
