| Posted almost 5 years ago One could never take over empathy, gut instinct and compassion. One could not take over intricate critical skills such as iv sticks, ngt inesertions, foley insertion. What makes nurses wonderful are the same things that can't be taken over by technology. |

| Posted almost 5 years ago I doubt if technology will ever take over nursing but if used in right way I think it could enhance the nurse's job. I find it much easier to do computer charting, pulling up files, xrays, CT's up on screen. However, I just don't see a robot in the near future teaching a new mother how to nurse or Heaven forbid coach her through labor. I think our jobs as nurses are fairly secure as far as technology is concerned. |

| Posted almost 5 years ago I agree, Technology has and will continue to make certain parts of nursing easier, but you will never be able to do actual patient care with anything other than a person. |

| Posted almost 4 years ago Hmm...I would agree with all of you on the opening note...but now that I think about it I am reminded of the various AI (Artificial Intelligence) development programs and the robotic sciences going on all over the world. I mean, I am just thinking of all those movied out there that have some pretty snazzy robotics going on. Even if this does happen it won't be in my lifetime I don't think, so I am fairly sure I am secure on that front. But you cannot deny the sheer accuracy and stability of a robot and it's ability to work night and day without rest. You mention compassion and apathy, yes, we will never be able to reproduce those but we have already imitated them down to an art. Then you have to factor in the changes of society itself in that span of time. What if society has become use to the emotionless voice of a robot...I am just saying 'what if' here...in all likely hood we will have nuked ourselves to extinction or the stone age by then.
Cheer :D |

| Posted almost 4 years ago Well just take a look at Japan, they already have a fully functional humanoid robot with basic AI. It is very possible. |

| Posted almost 4 years ago yea and doctors are using these robatic hands to do surgery, and you can talk to robots in china and they recongize human expressions. Atlas dont be surprise it might happen between 2020 and 2030, im not saying between 2020 and 2030 nurse will be irrevelent but there will be robots that could do what humans do. |

| Posted almost 4 years ago Haha, yeah I wouldn't be surprised, more intrigued and annoyed that I didn't go into robotics hahha. I am just trying to account for human stupidity that seems to run rampant now a days...aka WW III |

| Posted almost 4 years ago A nurse works with her heart into it... Technology, doesn't... so, to efficiently do it, they need to work hand in hand both of them compliment each other. "happiness depends upon ourselves" |
