Posted almost 5 years ago There have many other topics close to thisalso.Check them out also, for other ideas and opinions. In my opinion, studying for the nclex at this stage in your career is premature. You need to learn the info and skills in Nursing school for it to make sense or to "flow" the way it should. It would be in your best interest to study the things you will be taking to learn to be a nurse.I.E. human body, muscles, cells, disease processes,Diets, nursing care plans. Also learning common drugs and there side effects, uses and contraindications etc.All this will help you in the nursing program. When you are in your second year then start reviewing for nclex. The nclex has tricky wording, this way you will be able to understand what the nclex is like and wording, importance of paying attn to the questions. Good luck!!!

Posted almost 5 years ago I agree with pezzy. I would not start to study for NCLEX at this point. It will overwhelm you. I would start with the basics like your math (drug math), science classes. But if you insist on looking at nursing material then start with the basics because it kind of builds off each other. Yeah you can start looking at mental health/peds but if you don't know what a nursing diagnosis or what a care plan/nursing process is then it will not make much since. Sure you may understand the patho for the different diseases but will not understand what the nurses role is in all of this.

Posted almost 5 years ago I agree also. You should focus on you prenursing classes. Studying for the NCLEX at this point is pointless, although, I do hear nursing students, using it as a study guide, when they are in the RN program itself. Studying for the NCLEX now, is to premature. First, get through all your prenursing classes first. I am a proud mother of three beautyful daughter. I currently live in Los Angeles California. I've worked as a heathecare provider for almost 10 years. I am curently in school to pursue my MSN in nursing, and wants to work as a pediactric nurse, in public health.
