Recently, a nurse failed to report a rape leading a young girl to kill herself. Have you ever experienced something similar. How do most nurses usually handle crime reporting?

In MA healthcare workers are mandated reporters. Maybe the nurse did not know how to protect the victim and report the crime. Ethically the right thing to do is report it.

In all the med legal classes I have taken it is drilled into us that all suspected/alleged crimes must be reported to the appropriate authority in a timely manner, if not reported, the care provider may face criminal charges and possible have their licence to practice either suspended or revoked.
