like how people are tutors for students, can i be a independent nurse for the old people (cant spell old people in meidcal terms, orthopedics?)


anyway can i work like that and be by own boss and make like 40hr?

You can hire yourself out. I doubt very much that you could pull in $40.00 an hour.

You can be an independent contractor and yes you'll make a whole lot more.  However, you pay all your own taxes, all of your own insurances and retirement.  You have to be better than everyone else, as does a travel nurse.  You have to prove yourself every single minute of every single shift.  You have problems at one facility, you can find yourself black balled and unemployed

Did you mean geriatrics?  


I would go through an agency too.   Get benefits, holidays and bonuses.
