Posted almost 5 years ago Is it just me or does any other nurse notice how nurses are pretty much invisible on those medical dramas ER and Grey's Anatomy? I mean I continuously tell my husband that in real life the nurses are performing alot of the procedures that they show the physicians doing.I mean its obvious some Doctor gives script approval. These shows make it appear that nurses are just casual observers or some horny docs challenge to lay for the weeks episode. I love the way Abbey the character who started out on ER as anurse had to go back and become a doctor,b/c being a nurse was just not good enough. They do have a nurse named Sam, but her story lines revolve around her problems and relationships. On Greys anatomy, a nurse is the foil between the romance of Mcdreamy and that whiney Dr. Grey. Oh, and I had to laugh when one show had George the intern staying at a pt's bedside all night long. When this actually happens please let me know. Claire Kruszka |

| Posted almost 5 years ago Cruszka, You are a howl! You'll know when it gets very, very cold because hell has actually frozen! What about House? God I love that show! Why does everyone have amyloidosis? And why does everyone bleed from the eyes? Today's mighty oak is just yesterday's nut that stood it's ground.

| Posted almost 5 years ago My family hates to watch any fiction medical show with me. I always have to laugh when ANY CPR is done. It is never correctly acted out. You know what else is hilarious. When the doc is a surgeon, internist, and OB/GYN. House (which I love) does this a lot. House is an immunologist, internist, part-time surgeon, and occasional oncologist. Although he does "confer" with Dr. Wilson when he thinks the patient might have cancer. And ofcourse he is the only doc in the universe that can diagnose any weird issue. He also runs labs arbitrarily until something is abnormal. Try getting that one passed a patient's insurance company in the real world! |

| Posted almost 5 years ago Are there real doctors like House? I've never seen anything like him in real life, but I've lead a sheltered life. What are they called? Dr., PI... Please don't pay any attention to my misspelled words or typos. Sorry I'll try harder next time. |

| Posted almost 5 years ago I LOVE House. My mom and I have a date every Tuesday night to watch that show. We also used to have House marathons on Saturday nights to watch back previous seasons on DVD. Sometimes we'd stay up until 2 am. Good times! BTW, ER is starting it's last season on Sept. 25. Last season we were left hanging as to who was in the ambulance that blew up... It's either Dr. Gates or Sam. I guess we'll just have to wait and see... |

| Posted almost 5 years ago I've seen some Docs that have come close to House in the bed-side manner department. But I don't think any of them would pop Vicodin in front of the patient....I could be wrong! My son and I watch season 3 on DVD (Mother's Day present) and we just laugh at what a jerk he is. Today's mighty oak is just yesterday's nut that stood it's ground.

| Posted almost 5 years ago I tried watching "House" and could never get into it. It's soooooooooooo far fetched and that Doctor is a drug head (although that may happen in the real world), his personality SUCKS. Hasn't anyone complained or reported him? |

| Posted over 4 years ago Did anyone watch "House" last night? I'm surprised that the AMA isn't outraged. Last night he kidnapped person to treat him. Then stabbed him in the head or neck while in the elevator, with some unknown substance that he grabbed from a med cart in the hallway, so he could do an MRI! Today's mighty oak is just yesterday's nut that stood it's ground.

| Posted over 4 years ago My favorite lines are always the ones that go something like "Get some one from psych down here now.!) |

It's either that or "Call Security!" |

| Posted over 4 years ago I get a whole lot of that in real life. "You used to be a psych nurse, you deal with them" Long term care is just a synonym for Gero psych! |

| Posted over 4 years ago Well, I never have the old Get psych phrase mentioned. In the ER's here its security. Or, sometimes you just deal with the insane pt yourself all day. That's when I start bugging the docs for Ativan IVP !! LOL. Claire Kruszka |

| Posted over 4 years ago I have come to the conclusion that there are no real nurses in these shows because we veteran nurses got smart and stuck a Prozac aerial sprayer in the doctor's lounge. We also replaced the salt in the shakers with scrapings from the Valium salt lick we have placed in the waiting rooms. the doctor's are now very happy and pleasant and easily manipulated, and its easy to get them to do our jobs while we sit back and enjoy our massages.... Oh...I'm sorry...dreaming again.... |

| Posted over 4 years ago I love House as well.....LOL....It's funny how the poor patient is misdiagnosed over and over again, until like 10 minutes before the show ends. I just keep on watching though... |

| Posted over 4 years ago O.K. Now I have been watching the House marathon's and I can't help it I'm hopelessly addicted. I think it's O.K. that there aren't many nurses represented in that show. I know I could never cover that guys ass! When he says "I don't use nurses" I think good! Thank God it's FICTION, I'd have turned him in long ago, and now I'd have nothing to watch. House is my Vicodin. If I can just hold on until eight o'clock. I don't get Scrubs. Can anyone explain it to me, I've tried, just can't get into it. Today's mighty oak is just yesterday's nut that stood it's ground.

| Posted over 4 years ago Oh, those soaps where the nurses had (don't know about now, haven't seen one in years) long, flowing hair, beautifully made up faces, and all the time in the world to delve into each other's personal lives. I am, and feel like, one hot mess within an hour of clocking in. And in my place of employment, my half-hour breaktime is already figured in as overtime, that's how rarely we get a real break, forget time to talk to my coworkers.

. CDnurse I know you have seen it. I just die laughing everytime they do this. The other funny thing is if you look around and listen you will see many romances and love pads going on in many hospitals the only difference is the movie stars get paid and there ending is always a happy one. The producers get their insight from somewhere and that is why we watch it! HaHa Cute topic!!
