| Posted almost 5 years ago Alot of Caffiene got me through it. I spent more nights than I care to remember staying up late studying for exams. Good Luck! Chemistry is one of those necessary evils that you get or you don't! |

| Posted almost 5 years ago I took chemistry last spring, and I agree that it was a tough class. Fortunately, I had a really good teacher who wanted us to succeed (something very rare). I found that doing A LOT of practice problems was helpful. Usually textbooks will have many practice problems at the end of each chapter or topic. DO ALL OF THEM. Even though they are very tedious and take a lot of time, they help you familiarize yourself with the formulas. You'll be surprised that you will start to get the hang of it after a while. Also, I recommend having a study group. During the study group go over key concepts and make sure you understand how to utilize the formulas to solve the problems. And at the risk of sounding repetitive, DO MORE PRACTICE PROBLEMS. Keep up the great work and don't loose your motivation! Good Luck!

| Posted almost 5 years ago I took Chemistry over the summer whenever I took it and I was lucky and had a fantastic teacher. I made it out with an "A". He was the best and everyone loved him. Unfortunately they let him go right after that. The head of the science department didn't like him. Probably b/c everyone like him better than her. LOL. Just stick with it, and ask questions if you don't undertand.

| Posted almost 5 years ago Everyone and esp. "sewnew" provided some great advice. Do ALL of the text practice problems, get a study group together, and take advantage of the tuturing services that your college has to offer. I always worked on my own but I know that with Chemistry, I'll have to be open to using the tools,/resources which includes getting a small study group together and getting extra help from the teacher and tutoring. I work full-time and have a family but I'll do whatever I have to do to get a decent grade and lessen the stress at the same time. I start Chemistry on Monday, Aug. 25th - yikes! I am dreading it. Hopefully, the teacher I got matches up to the ratings in the website called www.ratemyprofessor.com. Students rate their teachers on this particular site. I initially took Chemistry this past summer but quit because the teacher was horrible and english is not her 1st language so that made it all that much more challenging. She received negative ratings on the site from a majority of the students who posted. Good luck. I'll be checking back and forth under this thread as my class approaches. |

| Posted almost 5 years ago LOTS AND LOTS OF RECIPE CARDS. It is an awful class but it can be conquered!!! myself I varyalyyy passed with a C, but if I can do it you can do it!!! this was one of the hardest and I took it in the summer, (maybe that helped) I had a study partner. we sat at the table and quized each other for an hour after class. time consuming but it helped. flash cards while driving to school and at break when at work. |

| Posted over 4 years ago I think a requirement for all chemistry instructors is to be monotone and rude.It was the hardest class I've had to date. |

| Posted over 4 years ago The most important things to know about chemistry is Algebra and memorization. I took the class in a compressed summer course and thought to myself what was I thinking. I studied every night and memorized all the formulas. In the end, I came out with an A in the class. Not to mention, we had the worst professor in the school. |
