Posted almost 6 years ago Political games occur in every profession. How has this subject affected your career in nursing? Note: this is not for drama, this is a way to learn how to cope when trying not to be murdered during the games in which you would rather be uninvolved. |

Posted almost 6 years ago HaHaHa!!!! I find this quite humorous. I am currently dealing with this exat thing right now at my hospital. I really thought that I could just go to work and keep my mouth shut and not talk to anyone unless it pertained to work. But then I get accused of not being a team player. Go figure!!!! But if someone has a good answer to this I would love to know how to handle this.

Posted almost 6 years ago Has there been many instances when you have felt under appreciated because of the political games being played on you? How has this affected your career thus far?

Posted almost 6 years ago Oh of course you feel under appreciated when this type of game happens. You feel like no matter how hard you try to do the right thing that the only thing that matters is what they think is important. My career has only blossomed when this happens. Once this type of behavior happens then it just shows me that it is time to move on and find something better. The shocking thing is that the facility where I am at now is a magnet facitlity and yet the games are still tolerated there. So it doesn't matter what type of facility it is the only thing that matters is that you are not thought of as part of the team. You finally realize that if you can't voice your opinion in a matter of fact way then evidently you don't need to conrtribute to that type of environment. The funny thing is that they always say well your patient care is excellent. Well I thought that is what my job was about. But as we all know that is never the case when you are working for someone. You have no voice in what happens. You either follow the rules or you are looked at as the outcast, or trouble maker.

Posted over 5 years ago something really is happening in our facility right now. we are one of the facilities that only have 5 citations from the state but staff are not happy. people think that the hall where i am working at have no competent nurses because of overtime and incidents while the other hall is very trained. my residents have behavioral problems, more treatments, medications, more census as well as chartings, with only 5 CENA (sometimes with 2 new ones). the other side have less medications, less charting, less behavior problems, 5 CENAS mostly regulars, an extra nurse. my hall when full house have 57 residents and the other side will only have 46. they pick on staff for slightiest thing like pager not being handed down to the nurses personally.

Posted over 5 years ago every job involves politics of some kind. I'm like Ddxp2cnc1-I don't want to be involved-I want to go to work, do the best job possible and go home.I'm too old for the drama- I don't care about it unless it has to do with my job. But somehow I always end up getting sucked into it whether I want to or not.all that drama takes up way too much time and energy that could be put to good use doing patient care. I work for a temp agency now and don't have to deal with office politics-it doesn't concern me. I do get to go to work, do my job and go home. I love that! (I guess there is a job that doesn't have to deal with office politics after all!)
