Posted over 4 years ago Still, I think that I get the idea. Something is happening in the mental wards and workers are sleeping on the job. (I know there is more to it than that.) I have an interest in working in psychiatric nursing but haven't got recent "clinical" work experience. Because it has been so long, no one is taking my resume seriously except these "independent contractors" for temporary work. Not really the kind of job I need to take care of my needs because it is seasonal and I have 2 or more jobs like this where I do my own taxes. My biggest concern, when working in any facility, especially hospitals or places where you have to depend on using nurses aides or "care takers" is that maybe of the ones that I have encountered (not all!) are lazy, irresponsive to authority, putting the patients in harm's way. This concerns me greatly and I don't want to have to put up with that again. As a LPN, I have been a supervisor but don't always receive the respect from others I work with, making my work extremely difficult. Since we rely on competent aides, what do we do when in a position where we are in charge of a large number of patients and not everyone is doing their job? I personally feel that aides should be trained longer. I know they aren't underpaid. And, for God's sake, don't do a job unless it is really something that you want to do. Don't just do it for the money. People's lives are too precious...and I believe in Karma...what goes around comes around. Thanks |

| Posted over 4 years ago in school, we were taught that patients most especially those mentally ill patients should be given the highest regard, and so i thought. untill i heard all of these things that make me wonder. yes, in the real world, it's quite different, although ideals should be followed, it's not happening. some tend to be irresponsible in their jobs and that doesn't only affect their co-workers but most especially the patients that is entrusted to them. it is time for change, now or never, or we will always endanger the lives of the people that we are supposed to be taking care of .and saying and feeling sorry is not an option.
