National is ramping up for the possibility of large scale recruitment.  In anticipation of Hurricane Gustav, the Disaster Operations Center in Washington DC has issued four Disaster Relief Operations (AL, LA, MS, and TX).  Each DR is a Level V meaning 5 million dollars will be spent.

Red Cross National is notifying local chapters of the potential for Gustav to be anywhere from a hurricane category 3 to 5 and is preparing for a possible National Level 5 disaster (same level disaster as Katrina). For those of you who are Red Cross RNs and others who volunteer during disasters, you should update your availability with your organization in preparation for rapid deployment.
