A Medical Assistant is NOT same as a LPN.

My school i graduated from a year ago wants to say MAs are like LPNs. But in the real world once you get in the workforce its not! Us MAs cant be school nurses like lpns, we are not trained in LTC, we can't do homecare or give medications. Were medical just secretaries  trained to do phelebotomy and ekg. I would have gone for LPN if i would have know this? On top of that our pay is way less than LPN. I've worked with some really good dr.'s but we are really ripped off on pay $9-$10 hour, if your lucky you get $12 hr. And i dont understand why there giving out degrees for MAs its a waste of time and $. A diploma LPN makes more than a MA with a associate degree!
