Posted over 5 years ago Forensic Nursing is a hot specialty these days. Is anyone here a forensic nurse currently or considering it as a specialty? What's the process like to become one? |

Posted over 5 years ago This specialty does seem really awesome. Has anyone heard of any NP programs in forensic nursing?

Posted over 5 years ago There are many colleges that offer a Forensic Nursing program. I am not sure of any NP programs. Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA offers a MSN Forensic Nursing program which is mostly online. They also offer a certificate program called, "The Cyril H. Wecht Institute of Forensic Science and Law". This program is incorporated into the MSN Forensic Nursing Program. You can get information about these programs at www.duq.edu.

Posted over 5 years ago I am a Duqesne University MSN-Forensic trak graduate (May 2007). It was an awesome program, and I especially liked the online format. It was a challenge at first to get organized and learn my way, but after 2 weeks, I was off and running. I actually prefer online distance learning now. Feel free to contact me off-line with any questions about the program or Forensic Nursing as a career choice. Chelortiz@hotmail.com

Posted over 5 years ago There is also a NP program with a specialty in forensics at Vanderbilt University. I am looking into doing that once I complete my BSN.
