Posted over 4 years ago As a christian nurse, our heart & trust is in our Lord. Matthew 5:16. says" Even so, let your light shine. Like the city set on a hill, or the lighted lamp on a stand." We are told, 1)To let our light shine. 2)Before men. 3)By good works. 4)That they may glorify the Father in heaven. Christ is the Light; we will shine as reflected light if we walk in his light. If we give forth light it will honor God. What ways do we let our light shine, making a difference from others nurses? |

Posted over 4 years ago Personally, I try to be myself and others often read me and feel my spiritual connection. I try to do the Lord's work by utilizing spare time to help His people and give to others that don't have. I tell others about how things are when you serve the ONE and only MASTER. I continously pray for the sick pts and family I take care of and mention those that I don't know anything about. I see the postive in everything and not the negative. I praise GOD in every situation b/c I know HE will fix everything and be a light in the dark and b/c He is my all in all. One thing that I have noticed is that most people will promote the devil before they promote JESUS or glorify HIM. It is so easy to do wrong but when you do right and trust in the Lord you feel great and no one can stop me from smiling, no matter the situation.

Posted over 4 years ago All praises to the almighty God. God bless you candance and nurse33. There should be more women like you and me to be able to uplift the power of God in the workplace. My life is really starting to geer more towards spirituality. Every morning I start off with the Lord's Prayer and i then go into the pray for the people in my spirit and those whom i may encounter for that dad. You never know who is in need for a spiritual healing. On yesterday, the spirit of God was so heavily on me. I walked in a room where there was a nurse setting up. i said good morning. It seemed as if she had been or wanting to cry. She said how am I suppose to pay my bills on a $600.00 check. granted we just come out of hurrican gustav. i said well try praying to God. she said i did. I told her to leave it there. another christian nurse came in and we began to fellowship with her. at the end of the day, she had a different spirit of her. my only reply was THANK YOU JESUS, WE DID IT AGAIN. to comment yes we must alway have that spiritual light to shine in moments like these. I often get alot of comments on my bright smile and warm personality. They said you must be a child a God. And i own being a child of God to the heart. Like they say Next Level. Another thing, i read in Psalms 100 make a joyful noise unto the Lord. I made a promise. that if is should encounter a negative feeling i called on God through songs. Are you familiar with the song. "Bow down." and "I need thee". only me and God. we had a wonderful time. Although we have not had two church services, God was still working. Praise God to you my sisters in Chirst

Posted over 4 years ago Praise the Lord for He is Great and Worthy to be Praised! Everywhere I am, I am at work for Christ. At work I am myself, people do sense my spirituality as well. Everymorning I go into prayer for my clinic, I walk the halls and pray over each provider, I pray over the patients, I pray for God to perform at medical miracle on that day. I have had countless co-workers ask me for prayer for themselves or a family member, some want it immediately in which case we will go into an empty exam room and I do just that. I find countless evangelistic opportunities while at work. I read the Word at work in open view. It's the God (His light shining) in me that people see that makes them want to spill their gutts and tell me very personal info about their lives. I am constantly praying both in and out of work. Prayer does change things and I believe in divine healing. I feel honored that God uses me in the ways he does. I praise God for the invitation to this group. God bless the members who are apart of this group.

Posted over 4 years ago I Corinthians 10:31 "For whether therefore ye eat or drink or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God." I apply this to nursing also. I not only attempt to give the best care because that is what my employer wants but more importantly what I am to do to glorify God. Redneck I is...but bigot I taint!

| Posted over 4 years ago Praise the Lord !!! It is wonderful to have been invited to this group. I am so excited to have other Christians to fellowship with. I think it is wonderful how most of you pray with fellow coworkers and are able to share the Lord with them. I believe that the Bile prophecies are coming true and that the coming of the Lord is near so it is very important to share the gospel with others more than ever. God bless each one of you!

An atheist was walking through the woods. "What majestic trees"! "What powerful rivers"! "What beautiful animals"! He said to himself. As he was walking alongside the river, he heard a rustling in the bushes behind him. He turned to look. He saw a 7-foot grizzly bear charge towards him.
He ran as fast as he could up the path. He looked over his shoulder & saw that the bear was closing in on him.

Posted over 4 years ago MARTYGRN just read your joke- very funny! It shows us that we can't fool God. I have a prayer request for Stephanie- 21 year old who contracted MRSA and now has extensvie neurological damage. This happened over a year ago and she is still in a rehab hospital. They have decided to start speech therapy since she is now able to say yes and no. I know that the Lord is answering prayer because we have been praying for her to be able to speak again and her doctor deciding to start speech therapy was a surprise to Stephanie's mom. Her mom came into work and gave me a big hug and told me the good news. She is so happy and hopeful that Stephanie will make a recovery. Please lift Stephanie up in prayer.

Posted over 4 years ago What can we can do that makes a difference? Are we earthly gods? Stay with me ...I Love the Lord ! I am visiting this group for the first time and have read through the comments stated - all speak the word of God whether through quoting scripture or even in humour. This forum title "Making a difference" compelled me to ask...how do we? ... is it, touting our walk as God fearing Christians and thereby we glorify our good works rather than Gods work in and through us? The seasons we've seen thus far reveal the crafty works of deception - When will we as the light bearers to those; who can't and more appropiately won't have any part of it, be more about glorifying God - in everything we say and do. - Isn't this as important as quoting book chapter and verse. How will they know the truth of the One True Loving God, who condemns none, but is long suffering, patient, and the many other attributes, the greastest of these - LOVE, What will compel them to come see this man who tells even our secrets, if we aren't living epistles of Him who sent Jesus to us - to save us - even now - from ourselves. Do you ever wonder what it is that keeps those others from coming to the knowledge of His grace? Countless times, through the years, I've seen and continue to see this thing, one I dare no to express for not wanting to add to the power of the thing, but rather to keep my heart before the Lord - ready and willing to go, ( send me Lord!) and to speak ( speak Lord, for Your servant hears You)... How can we make a difference - any difference - apart from the truth of who He is in the midst and "that " working of Him comes from Him that no man glory in himself - but Glorify God who is WORTHY! For God truly is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all I could ask or think according to the power that works in me. So.. as we continue along the path of lifes journey - what is - making a difference? Were it not for Jesus, we'd be lost ... The difference then ... is in Him ... in ... and ... through ... us Be glorified in us Lord - guard our hearts that we may always be a blessing to You as You have been an exceeding blessing to us. Master Physician come and visit Stephanie - and even as the surgeon performs surgery even more so Lord come and work in her body and bring healing and restoration according to Your Loving Grace and Mercy, pour Your oil accordingly, because You know all things, see all things, and hear all things - Father I ask you according to your word that states - if a brother is sick to call for the elders and pray the prayer of faith for healing. Thank You for Your healing, for by Your stripes ... we are...healed...In Jesus Name- Lord each time someone readss this it represents prayer of faith agreement... Thank you for the power in Your Spoken word - In the precious name of Jesus - amen, so be it , Lord~

'What is it like to be a Christian?' God picks you from the patch, brings you in, and washes all the dirt off of you. Then He cuts off the top and scoops out all the yucky stuff. Then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside of you to shine for all the world to see.

Posted over 4 years ago csp2359 I don't get what you are saying in your reply to the title of this topic "making a difference". Are you saying that you think that we can't make a difference? I believe that we can through prayer, through love for others, and through witnessing to others. As believers in Jesus Crist our Lord and Saviour we are called to teach others about Jesus, His love for us, and about the gift of salvation. It has nothing to do with good works. It has to do with the Holy Spirit working in and through us as we are out in the world being willing for God to use us for His purpose. With alI due respect, I don't think that anyone here thinks that he or she is an earthly god. Anyway, thanks for the prayer for Stephanie. God bless!

Posted over 4 years ago Forgive me if I implied any derogatory. I was merely expounding on the thought of and even the action of making a difference. My response was meant to address our sinnful nature and with that the tendancy to be about all our good works which, I am in agreement, "not by works." It's difficult to at times to articulate the fullness in a brief paragraph. Still, it's a question - how can we make a difference? I intended to imply a reminder "of guarding ourselves" from becoming puffed up for our good works...no implication that anyone is - The fact is, we get busy with life and can operate in auto pilot. We can know the word and it have no effect because of the place we've gotten to - not that we even planned it arrive at this whatever place. In short, it's the word tells us to be watchful always and to guard our hearts. If we are offended have we addressed the offense? And if we haven't - when we bring our tithes to the alter have we remembered that there was an offense? We become busy with life - and in that place we overlook the word of cation given to us - Are we making a difference by holding an offense rather than getting it straight. And do we really take it to the altar and leave it when that is our only recourse? We trust we do - but not always - because we can get busy with life and overlook that itty bitty offense that is much bigger than we realize. Once again, I trust not to offend anyone - for that serves no good purpose - The fact is the churches are empty on a national average - there's something to be said about that - perhaps it has increased since two years ago - but the leaders I've spoken with "on the national average" advise me that it is not so. Consider - the time and day look at the news, not that all they speak is accurate - but it is a gauge of where we are as a nation and as for me I want Gods hand to remain on us and not be removed - So all of us have something to consider - how can we make a difference? I thought I had commented on the overall church and I really wrote from that mindset not being judgemental of anyone here - Frankly, I've experienced some of my judgements and can appreciate the truth in not judging. I understand the universal laws and how they are unchangable - My passion for people saved and the lost is deep and I hate it that we unknowingly can buy a lie - been there- done that, I am determined that as I see things on the whole I am calling that thing out! For me, that is my reasonable service - for others they have theirs. For much that is given ... much is required. In a nutshell - God has given MUCH and I am giving all I have to give at the cost of offending - but even then ... as you may know my heart...I say it in Love not to point a finger - but for us to consider as I too consider and try daily and at times moment by moment to be gentle - Now you know this is my heart and the heart with which I ask f - orgive me if I offended you.

Posted over 4 years ago I would like to add that we are not called to teach - Eph 4:11 where Paul writes about walking in unity. We are called in one hope of our calling; ...He gave some to be apostles, some prophets, etc. for the equipping of the saints for the working of ministry for the edifying of the body of Christ - till we all come to the unity of the faith and knowledge of the Son of God to a perfect man to the measure of the statue of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be tossed to and fro and carried away with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting but, speaking the truth in love, may gow up in all things into Him who is the head - Christ - from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love. I draw attention to equipped - A making fit, preparing, training, perfecting, making fully qualified for service. In classical language the word is used for setting a bone (how appropriate) The Great Physician is now making all the necessary adjustments so the church will not be "out of joint." Tj you described evangelism, witnessing is not bible thumping as I am sure you know - so then what about witnessing? How does one witness - not as the world defines witness but as the word defines witness? During my time in ministry and evangelism we gave testimonials - our own - When you surrendered to the Lord what drew you and me and many others? Wasn't it the overwelming Love of God that wooed us to that place that we surrendered? The uncomprehensible Love of God enveloped us and in a instant * we were changed - I don't know when it took place exactly, but I remember the day even the night - He touched me and I have never been the same since - I was born again! All the perceptions of who I thought I was vanished because I became a new creature and behold all things became new. It was Love that drew me and Love that changed me, it was nothing anyone said to me nor did it have anything to do with what anyone did - it was God Himself drawing me. Having made this comment I return to teachers - are the attributes listed for teaching - do they describe you - if so, then you are called to teach. And that is an awesome calling and carries with it a great responsibility. As I flip from page to page in the old testatment the sub titles on the whole inform us on how to surrender to Him - page after page reveals the fallen nature and my utter lack in obeying all things at all times - I am reminded continually - provided at least that I remain in the Word - to be still and know He is God! I read about the errors of Gods ways that are preached as truth and about order and mostly I read page after page of His attributes and gain a greater glimpes of how much more vast His Love is - incorrect grammar - but I can't even find the correct vocabulary to express the depth of His greatness. All these thing I realize and yet, I am but a filthy rag - apart from Him I am nothing and can do nothing no less say anything- So my prayer is my I decrease all the more that He may increase.

Posted over 4 years ago God bless you all for these posts. In these days it is sometimes easy to lose sight of the Lord and his wonderous love. I just popped in to check this out and felt an overwhelming calm come over me. So thank you again. If you don't mind I would like to just get some things off my mind. I know that we are to give our burdens to God and to not worry about tommorrow, but I am really questioning how this is possible in the day and age we are in. My life has been so stressful for the past few weeks, I had 2 major anxiety attacks, one at work and they sent me home. They were so tiring and I just slept for hours afterward and woke up with a pillow wet from my tears I didn't know I had shed. My husband is getting laid off next week and it has been very difficult for him to find a job in his skill area, and one that pays enough to get the bills paid. With my daughters birthday and christmas coming up it was very hard for me to tell my family that we would onlyy be bringing ourselves to the celebration. I know the gifts don't matter, but I always get such joy in picking the perfect present. I am very good at it, or so I have been told. It just gets so difficult to know if there is a light at the end of the tunnell sometimes. My husband and I have been trying for 15 months to have another child with no luck. Instead I have been told I have endemitriosis (sp?) and it will prove to be very difficult to get pregnant. I also have a strong indication of lupus. And as of next week we will not have health insurance. My job does not provide these benefits. I have always gone by the old standard that God will never give us more than we can handle, but I am begining to wonder if I was wrong? Wow sorry I rambled on for so long. But boy did that feel good to get out there. Thanks for listening! "Softly. deftly, music shall caress you. Feel it, hear it, secretly possess you...."
