How do you know when to let him go?

Posted over 4 years ago I have not dated much in my life time, after a 8 year relationship how do you start over? I had been dating this gentalmen for about 4 years and he does not want to committe to a relationship. What should I do? I am in school full-time he helps a little, and takes great care of our daughter that we have together. But I am deeply considering moving on to something knew. I am afraid though, I just don't want to go through the whole getting hurt again. |

| Posted over 4 years ago I would first ask myself this question : "Do I want to continue this relationship? If so, why? If not, Why?" You can gain alot of insight just from that. It kind of forces you to take a step back and look at things from a different angle. Next question, do you know WHY he doesn't want to commit? Fear of committment issues? Lazy? He just doesn't see life with you in his future in that capacity? The possibilities are endless. Maybe he likes things the way they are and thinks bad things may happen if ANYTHING changes. Who knows? But no matter what happens remember there is a child involved who didn't ask to be put through any of this. Support and love her, both of you, no matter what!
