The area I currently live in (Ohio) has a strong connection to the auto industry, which is not doing well (big understatement). Therefore, the economy around here is horrid - factories closing, lots of layoffs, foreclosures, etc.

The economic base in NC appears to be different and so I wondered if the state is also suffering with job losses, foreclosures, company failures, etc. And if so, to what extent? I'm just interested in folks' different opinions and experiences from around the state.
