Posted almost 5 years ago O.k I knew that it was going to be a life changing event to take on nursing school while raising a family but my GOD! When someone tells you that you will not have a life until you take and pass the NCLEX you should believe them. All of my time is preoccupied with studing for the next quiz or test. I am a hands on type of parent and it bothers me that I can't do all of the fun things we are use to doing yearound. For example my two girls ALWAYS take part in the first fundraiser of the school year. We are usually in the top group for the most items sold. BUT NOT THIS YEAR! This time around we had to choose which one of the girls would be in the top group. It almost shattered my heart

| Posted almost 5 years ago Hey, I am not even in class yet. Next semester for me, and I just got a hospital job too. I am working 7p.m -7a.m....I will get home from work, take my kids to school. Then, go home and sleep until it is time to pick them up from school at 3:00....see them for a couple of hours, fix dinner and off to work again. Classes on my days off. When will I study? It will be worth it though. Just hang in there. We can do it! A good man loves other. A better man loves God. A great man loves God and lives well among others! I miss you daddy!

| Posted almost 5 years ago I was a stay at home mom for 12 years before I went back to school. Oct. of '07 was D Day for me. I had to walk away from the only thing I had done for 12 years and start LPN school. But, on a lighter note, here I am 11 months later and 1 month away from graduation. Not only did I surprise myself and made it to the end, but my 4 kids told me how proud they were of me and that they to want to go to college and get into heathcare. For me, that was the best part. I can't wait til graduation and start getting paid for what we do, but them not having me there every minute was so beneficial to them. They grew up and now my 4 yr old wants to go to school too. This was healthy for all of us. Hang in there, it will be worth it!!! |

| Posted almost 5 years ago I feel your pain! My daughter was only 9 months old when I started LPN school. I felt like the worlds worse mom. Now that it has been over for a long time, I realize although school was VERY hard, LPN school made it possible for me to provide for both of us a good income and all the work I could possibly want! Many times more than I would want. Keep it up, I promise you, it will be worth it! Redneck I is...but bigot I taint! |
that only one could move on to the next round. Sorry if I'm in VENT mode but I can't wait for this year to be over. I try to look on the bright side and think about when I'm working next year in a hospital we can more then double our normal intake on sales. This is not the only mother daughter moment that I'v lost to PN school and I'm almost certin that it wont be the last. I justy wanted to share some of my heartach with people that understand what it means to give up Family and friends for the goal at hand. Just remember IT WILL BE SO WORTH IT IN THE END!!!!
