Hi. I am looking in to the nursing field and have recently been stopped in my tracks. In 97' I was a young wild adult and got in with the wrong crowd. Therefore, I have a slightly less than clean record. I have been an angel since then but does anyone know if this will stop me from going further? I would appreciate any answers greatly

Kimberly, I think that would all depend on your charges. You do not have to and should not post them here. You can call the nursing board and ask them.

KG, I'm not going to ask you what your criminal record is, but I do know that misdemeanors are usually overlooked or forgiven, especially if you got them as a teenager (I know lots of nurses about my age who got into hospitals and RN programs when they had MIPs (minor in possession of alcohol) or small marijuana misdemeanors. I know there are a list of felonies that will ABSOLUTELY deny your entry into the program, but again; if it was a long time ago, nonviolent, etc., you finished a probation program, etc.,  your program may be able to work with you. Not everyone knows what they want to be when they grow up, and not everyone has a spotless past, but if you've paid your dues and it's off your record and you haven't had any recent 'incidents,' I wish you the best of luck.
