Posted over 4 years ago I was wondering how many of you have nurse liability insurance, and is it worth having? Who is your carrier, and how much do rates typically run for a year? If you don't have insurance, what is your reason for not purchasing it? Thanks! Diane "a day without freckles is like a night without stars" |

| Posted over 4 years ago I have insurance through nso. The price is reasonable, about $95 per year. You do get a discount your first year after graduation. I think it's $50.00 but you have to apply before your first year is up. I know many nurses that choose not to have it. I've heard if they know you have insurance they are more likely to sue. I myself don't really believe this. I think if they are going to sue, they are going to sue whether you have insurance or not. The nso web site if you want to check it out is http://www.nso.com/professional-liability-insurance/nurse-coverage.jsp Hope this helps. They also have alot of other good information on the site. |

| Posted over 4 years ago I too, have insurance through NSO. I wouldn't practice without it. Doesn't seem much worth losing your home or anything for that matter, over a suit. The price is reasonable for piece of mind. |

| Posted over 4 years ago As a nursing student we are required to take out insurance as well. It is through NSO and it costs the students $25 for a year. Very cheap for us. I hear that it goes to around $100 a year once you are a RN. |
