Nurse Shoe HELP!

Posted over 4 years ago I need some help. I just started a job that I am literally on my feet for 6 hours straight, with 1 15 min break to sit (not kidding!). I have a pair of Nurse Mates that don't seem to be doing the trick. My feet hurt by the end of the day, and by the end of the week, they are unbearable! I have wide feet, so the Danskos that everyone talks about will not work for me since they don't make them in wide. Does anyone have any suggestions for me that will keep me feet from hurting? Many thanks, Diane "a day without freckles is like a night without stars" |

Posted over 4 years ago I wear danskos...they have been the only ones that have not hurt my back or feet..but they are pricey and kinda hard to fit.. adidas megabounce are really good too. I avoid crocs, they break down too fast and personally i think they are ugly, but thats just my opinion...my mom swears by anything made by nurse mates..and she is an old schooler...lol

Posted over 4 years ago here's what 5 yrs and my wide feet say: i have 3 pairs to rotate, 2 prs of new balance 'cause they are wide and a pair of Quarks that slip in and have insoles that are replaceable. The quarks insole lasts 6-8 months so the shoe lasts 5 yrs. every 3-4 months I replace the new balance d/t wearing out the insides first. The quarks are not the backless or strap quarks. The are the entire shoe and it slips on. no laces or zipper. The are less than 5 ounces and extremely wide. If you are going to go to crocs remember they do not have a removable insole and must be replaced ofter too. Quarks cost me $55 when the uniform shop ordered them and they came with a second insole. I order new insoles by 4's for $18 or $9 a pair. New balance for me have the hard thick soles at TJ max's or Marshell's on sale $25-40. Then I buy 2-4 pairs so I can interchange and retire with ease. This is all added up with uniforms for tax write off's. Kohl's has decent prices on New balance when on sale and right now that seems to be often. The key is to rotate your shoes and replace tennis shoes every 3-4 months routinely. The other thing that is key is support trouser socks!!!! they are in all the catalogs and are no longer just white. INVEST in enough pairs to caring you through a weeks worth of shifts this encourages you to wear them!!! or even the support pantyhose!! Between the socks, nylons and shoes you can save your feet, legs and crankiness. By the way, I work 100-120 biweekly and have for years. I am a work aholic.

Posted over 4 years ago nurse mates = rockers. same thing, same company just different tag. rebounce very pricey and many ankle issues. tennis shoes have their draw backs too. crocs are overstated in performance and pricey as well. NEVER GIVE AN ENDERLY PERSON OR SOMEONE WHOM SHUFFLES THEIR FEET CROCS!!! The shoe is designed to grab floors and this means falls for those people. I absolutely hate them on ederly residents in nursing homes!!! Whatever you get - get a couple to rotate as you work the week. Many tennis shoes or shoes can be special ordered for wide widths but again there goes the price.

Posted about 4 years ago www.healthyshoestore.com I made a long post about this in another topic. Just go look at all of the shoes. You can even search for shoes by condition: fascitis, flat feet, wide feet, diabetes, etc. Good luck
