I float to different units as I'm needed.  Well for the past 2 months I have been assigned to the same unit.  Everyone is a team player except 1 nurse in particular.  Although she is a nice person, her work ethic is poor.  After she does her assessment and passes meds, she sits at the nurses station with her feet up on a chair and reads her magazines or gabs on the phone with her daughter.  I have seen her sit for at least 20 minutes finishing up her mag while her pt is waiting for a pain med.  When family members want to talk to her, she doesn't look at them while speaking and in my opinion is kinda rude by pretty much blowing them off.  The last time I worked with her she was yelled at by a pt's son cuz the med they were waiting on was taking a long time to come from the pharmacy.  Anyhow, I just found out she was laid off.  I know it sounds bad but I'm glad she's gone.  It was just plain annoying that she sat around while everyone else was doing their part.  Good riddance!

So that's why I always sit there forever!!! LOL....I just went to a clinic near the school I am going to for the LVN prog. and man I got a tetanus shot.....I am starting to think that nurse didn't like me, cause I can't even lift my arm w/out pain.

I agree, eventually people like that should be let go!!!
