Hello,

I am a second year nursing student, and i just started our med/surg and psych rotation in clinical and lecture materials as well. Does any one have any tips or advice or suggestions to help me survive the semester? there is only 10 weeks left (yes, i am counting!) but it just seems very, very overwhelming. any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks

I did not like my psych clinical until the very end.  To be honest I was scared.  I was in the acute care section a couple of times and was very nervous to talk to the patients.  Then the 2nd to last clinical I was in a group home for kids and really enjoyed it.  And the last psych clinical I was in a general psych unit and got over my fear and spent a little time talking to the patients.  As far as studying for both classes.  For med surg well the 2nd and 3rd med surg classes I just had to break out the book and read it.  For psych I used my NCLEX book to help me study for my test.

Do they still have those review cards for the NCLEX?  After I graduated, my friends and I used to each grab a handful and take turns asking the questions.  It was a great way to study.  As I recall they came in a box with all the subject separated.  We mixed them all up but you could just look at the Psych ones if they still make them.  They came in a box like recipe cards.

Good Luck!
