Posted over 4 years ago Last weekend I spent a long weekend visiting my grandchildren (and their parents) in the Raleigh/Cary/Apex area. While the weather was pretty icky from the Nor'easter, it didn't matter as I was lucky enough to be with my family. As we made our way to a variety of places, I noted the horrific amount of traffic and how fast everyone goes, regardless of speed limit signs. It made me think that, when I do move there, I will have to find a home right next door to wherever I find a job. How do those of you in that area deal with the crush of traffic and constant speed demons on the roads? |

| Posted over 4 years ago My stepson and family live in North Carolina - I had always thought of it as a peaceful woodsy place, but when we visited I was horrified that the traffic and crowding is just as bad as New Jersey! Yukkkk! I dealt with it here by retiring... The traffic had gotten so bad I couldn't stand it any more! And now when I do my consulting work I time my driving to avoid commuting hours, and I STAY AWAY from the cities! Things will only get worse, both here and there - our country is just acquiring too many people! Not much to do but move where the crowds haven't gotten to yet, I guess! |

Absolutly I couldnt agree more. If your looking for mountains Ashville area is nice..But if you want fun in the sun the Outter Banks is the way to go. I lived in Newport near cherry point Marine air station and it was very quiet and peacful..Morehead city during tourist season can get a little hectic. All in all NC is where I want to be!! Go Navy, Smooth Sailing! |
