If you could do anything in the world, what would it be? How would you make the world a better place?

I have always wanted to join PeaceCorps, but was never finacially stable enough to make it happen...I am thinking maybe when I retire? I would love to completely devote my life to service, if even for a two year stint. For now, the military fills that void :)

Now, in these hard times, If I had the money, and the support. I would create a world surplus. It is time for every nation, to come together and end world hunger, early childhood diseases, and to have a good source of clean water supply.

I am a proud mother of three beautyful daughter. I currently live in Los Angeles California. I've worked as a heathecare provider for almost 10 years. I am curently in school to pursue my MSN in nursing, and wants to work as a pediactric nurse, in public health.

I would travel to those countries who face world hunger and supply these people with food and medical help for all of their physical needs.

That's a difficult question to answer ... as for me . . . to step out there to effect a change - I would be committed to give of all gifts, talents and abilities as the circumstance presents.  It could be stressful to be in an environment that was completely different from the one I now know, but having been to third world countries already ... gaining the skills as a nurse I can hardly wait to return... So...given an opportunity and having gained skills I honestly do not believe I would deal with stress...When you serve people  there's is no greater reward - if the serving is holding a hand and comforting them - I can think of nothing that compares.  Again, having the training and skills to be a nurse and serve with added gifts and talents is an indescribable action of love for others- one which I don't believe I've mastered, but  - It's not about me - it's about those in need!  I long for the opportunities to do just that - that's what propels me as I study towards earning my degree!  If, I were wealthy - I would give to the point of hurting my own financial well being - I on the other hand - thus far have had the privaledge to earn and meet the demands of my economic requirements - Not so for those in third world countries and even in some parts of the US.  I long for the day when I can go!

I agree with much of what you have stated csp 2359; especially your last statement regarding our own country. There are so many opportunities to help those in need right here, right now, and without money!! Volunteer your time, your resources, and your many talents. One may choose to volunteer at a homeless shelter, a rescue mission; and not necessarily in a nurses role but simply in a role of one who cares for our own mankind. Another avenue may be to volunteer as a Big Sister or Big Brother; so many of our children lack a positive role model in their lives, most schools have a posting of all available volunteer duties. Today, more than ever, our country is facing many complex and vast challenges. More and more folks are losing their jobs, their homes, and their support systems.

As nurses, I encourage you to think of ways in which you can make a difference. Whether it be to serve lunch to the homeless or volunteer to visit a senior citizen in a skilled nursing facility; just do. Don't wait for the day you can travel to a third world country but think of what you can do tomorrow with the resources and talent that God has given you today. Collectively, we CAN make a difference! Blessings, Regina

I already do things...when a teenager needs to talk to someone other than a family member, a lot of them come to me; I try to let my free time be available for anyone who needs me, such as running errands for the elderly or helping a young mom in the 'hood cope with new motherhod. I just love people and I have time for my own family as well! We all need to help one another and as long as I live I plan to do just that!

I have worked to be sure my children will not be a drain on society will want themselves to do their part to better our America. Our children are our future. Instill in them the importance of doing good for others not expecting a thing in return, it is only by giving yourself with no strings attached and with no body else except that person you made a difference for knowing will you completely be blessed with peace. Everyone want s to be recognized when they do a good deed, but try doing a good deed and not telling anyone you did it, that is the power, the power within yourself, just knowing yourself that what you did was good and being happy even if you do not get a pat on your back.

be a good example to others, the golden rule says " treat others only as we consent to being treated in the same situation".
