I have spent the last few nights reading all the posting from this site. A few things seem to come up. One is complaints about this site, complaints about others (mostly) Complaining about the site and what should or should not take place. So, I would like to open the floor to a CONSTRUCTIVE discussion about what YOU; our valuable participants would like to get out of this site. Let us consider a few things. 1) This is a free site to everyone 2) Participation is OPTIONAL 3) You get out of it what YOU put into it. 4) Most importantly, contrary to some opinions, the site administrators, editors and moderators DO care about your input!

There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes of operating and managing a site like this. First problem. many of us are women, anytime you put a bunch of women together you are likely to have feathers flying. Second we are SMART, a deadly combination.

I would like to purpose posting what you TRULY would like to get out of this site, what do YOU think could be done to improve things (please do not start about the points) If YOU had the power to add a feature what would it be, and mostly what are YOU going to ADD to the site yourself to help make it the best possible. Many of us enjoy this site, there is always room for improvement, here is a chance to be heard.

The first thing I would be extremely happy over is if the games and fun things are separated so I can log on and get to the topics I want to see, instead of seeing all the games being front and center. This way, if I wish to participate in the games I can or not.

The second thing is an alert to let those who are posting a similar topic to let them know it's already in progress,  I think this would allow the site to be less cumbersome and not so bogged down.

Great suggestions Deb, thanks I hope we get more ideas that can be passed along to make this site even better than it is now.

No complaints here. This site is a microcosm of our world: positive people, negative people, ding-dongs, and indifferent. I have met a few people though this site that I have enjoyed chatting with and being inspired by. I am too old to waste my time fighting with anybody or getting bogged down by negative people. Life really is too short.

I was just hoping to get some real good ideas like Deb gave from everyone, we have some bright people on this site, it is a young site and we could really give some ideas that could really be great for all.

Live chat would be a nice addition

I'd like live chat also. That would be fun!       I'd like to be able to view items I recently posted on and to be able to come back later and see what was said after my post without having to hunt for it. (Sometimes I forget where it was)     When I ask or address a problem on nursinglink feedback-I'd appreciate an answer asap. I'd like to see more news worthy items posted on the home page. I think points should be given for questions in the Game.

Please keep items coming I want a list of things to take forward, we have some good lists of problems with the site that I will try and get an answer back too.

Its very difficult sometimes to fish through things.  I wished when you do the friend thing you didn't have to pop in and out.  Its really hard to find a topic if you are not in it and someone wants you to look at a posting to find it, if you do not have the right forum.  I hope this made sense, I haven't slept in 4 days.

I would like to see a Frequently Asked Questions area, broken down into common topics, so newbies, such a myself could go there first and then not bother the others with a question they've already answered over and over again. Maybe something similar to a Directory could be put in place so people can go to the area they're looking for and save time would be helpful, also. On a lighter note, the icons are nice and I've used them many times...maybe a more extensive selection could be implemented. This site has been helpful and the information is good. I've met some really nice people here. For it to be a relatively new undertaking, I think it has done well so far.

Thanks to those who have added feedback so far I am going to give it a few more days of input to try and get the most concerns and then will pass along. Thanks again guys, this will be a GREAT site when we all get done here.

I would like to see something in the neighborhood of a bulletin board or a main arena (for lack of better words) to post announcements, etc to the site members at large...no discussion topics but something all or most of the members could use...possibly a new book that would interest the nursing community, maybe a place to buy scrubs at a better price, etc...that sort of thing.

I must say that I am so excited that this site is 100% meeting all of our expectations since we have only a few comments for improvement. I thought with all the complaints I had read from some we would have many more suggestions, hey I am excited, I will get the above items sent on for consideration and get back with answers.

Well, I do not come on very often but find it mostly nice and entertaining to read others remarks sometimes down right funny. I agree with some of the suggestions that have been stated here, I think some of the complainers are not responding because they seem happier in the annonymus zone so they can keep hidden and nobody (ya right) knows who they are. LOL I think except for a few things this is a great site better than most I have seen

I like that the site is open to anyone. I have gotten to vent and I think I may be able to contribute something to people from my perspective. As messed up as my family is I did learn that helping others is usually the answer, or leads to the answer to most problems.

I'd like to see in email a return to messages option

I'd also like to be able to change/delete or move a topic from one forum to the next.

The only complaint I have has already been made.  I am tired of receiving emails from nursing link in my private email account even though I have set it up to not receive any emails from nursing link.  Why can't these messages be put in the inbox on nursing link rather than my personal email account?

I just wonder what has changed in the past month or so that has resulted in a daily saturation of my inbox with"Take this quiz....", and group invites.  Is there some sort of incentive on the site to push these out?  I had to change my options to prohibit emails to my personal email account.  It's too much.

Is it too much to  expect an answer when we post a question?

It seems the "take this quiz" crap goes out rather you want it to or not. I have never sent an invite to take a quiz to anyone but it has gone out with my name on it. It is bull.

Yes, I agree that all the "group invites" and "take this quiz" emails in my personal inbox have gotten a little tiresome, and frankly quite annoying. However, I do enjoy getting the Nursing Link newsletters. I would suggest that these newsletters and all other invites, etc. be delivered to my NL inbox rather than my personal inbox.

I would like to be able to edit my profile and not put a name or where I live public.  If NursingLink wishes to have the information that's fine with me, but I'd rather not have it public knowledge where I live.

I will repeat cdnurse's question. Is it too much to expect an answer. That's all most of us expect. A freaking answer to our questions.

Couldn't agree with you more, Deb. I found it to be a little odd that I could not hide where I live when I joined this site (there are options to hide just about anything else in your profile). I guess that I have just gotten used to this fact over time, but it still would have been nice if I could have chosen whether or not to share this information.

Yes I agree with ALL of you, we SHOULD get an answer back to our questions and concerns, today I finally received an answer back to the first couple of issues raised on this thread. I was told that the issues are being looked at by the administrators and I have been assured of an answer back, I made it clear that we ALL deserve to have an answer back even if it "it can not be fixed" which I am hoping is not the answer, just wanted to get back to all with an update. Thanks for being here, you are ALL important to this site, but mostly to your patients and patients to be.

I just ran across this thread, I have not had any problems but I do not log on very often but nice to see that someone cares about the problems others are having
