Posted about 1 year ago I am very definately a Leo, leader to the core always have been. I do not pull any punches, do not dance around a topic, do not sugar coat things, do not talk behind others backs, I go straight to the person in question. I speak my mind and certainly tell you exactly how it is. With all of that said, I have learned over the years after being known as PB which happens to be my initials but the PB also mean Pushy Bi**H. I have worn this honor for my whole life, what I have learned though is it is NOT okay to tell others what you think of them and hurt feelings, diplomacy must be used, I have been called a bull in a china shop, okay I agree, but I get things done, no doubt from a restaurant to the doctors office, few people dare to get in my way. Over the past 10 years or so I have become more diplomatic in that I have learned you can still get things done and get things MY way without leaving bloody bodies laying around in my wake. So I still believe in telling it like it is, I have just made my comments more of a learning thing instead of just insulting. I am not 100$ fixed though, I still have times I speak before fully thinking and then have to pull my foot out my mouth! A busy RN is here |

| Posted about 1 year ago busyRN, I know what ya mean. I think my biggst problem is that I am so passionate about certain things that my passion makes me appear oppinionated. With that, I spout off every little known fact and figure hoping anyone within ear shot will take notice!!! To be honest, sometimes I do it to simply start a debate or get a discussion going. That's not always good! No one ever has to wonder where they stand with me. I'm blatantly honest at times to the point I've made people cry. Not that I'm proud of that, but perhaps they need to COWBOY up!!! Aisha Don't be a WOMAN just when it's FUN, be a WOMAN when it COUNTS! Save the Babies! |

| Posted about 1 year ago I consider someone forthright with my belierfs..........my downfall is that I can also be made to doubt the beliefs I have lived by my whole life. I want to be a better person and stick to my guns without remorse. I dont want this to be confused with being wishy washy. There is one issue I cant be swayed on, aisha and I have spoken on this and I feel like a huge burden has been lifted from my shoulders. We only have one heart, take care of it! Angie |

| Posted about 1 year ago I too hate to come off as just harsh, my motives are always good, but I too can be rough, I have tried to check myself after speaking to people to make sure I have not left anyone hanging from the chandelier. A busy RN is here |

| Posted about 1 year ago I speak my mind, try to stay tactful. This dog has lost a lot of its fight and through the years, I try to choose only the battles I can win. I have to priortize to see if its really worth it. Boy, reading this that sounded extremely self-centered. |

| Posted about 1 year ago I will speak for myself but maybe some of you can identify with what I have to say. I believe I care too much and it is important for me to get the job done and done right. I do not do things half assed or just some of it especially when people depend on me and my abilities. If my job is not completed my mind will not be at ease. I have to know that at least I did the best I could. I don't even want to start talking about the lazy people because I have no tolerance for them. In my mind they just don't care. I am not a loud mouth. I like to use humor. I was brought up that way. I can at times be very powerful with words. I am not a leader yet sometimes I have followers meaning people that respect me and want to be with me.I love helping others. I believe that is my purpose in life and I actually enjoy trying to fulfill that. I am not even sure what the topic is yet I feel we all share a common bond and that is simply that we care. Joni |

| Posted about 1 year ago Ditto to all the above, however the people I have the most respect for are those who can get it done, and still stay calm. The ones who can be heard without yelling, the ones that when they speak, YOU LISTEN. The ones who can admit, hey maybe I am not right, let me take a look at it. Those are my goals and maybe one day I will get there. I spend alot of time listening to motivational and spiritual cd's on the way to work, this helps me be centered and start my day off on solid ground. When I don't do this, I can tell the little things eat me up.
I WENT TO SINCLAIR COMMUNITY COLLEGE AND CAPITAL UNIVERSITY IN THE LATE 1980'S AND EARLY 1990'S. LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU FELLOW NURSING STUDENTS. |

| Posted about 1 year ago Well I am not like any of you. I guess I can say what I really think here when we aren't face to face, but I have been called a doormat several times. I hate that about myself and that is something I am working on, to be more assertive in what I believe to be true or right or whatever. I just have to say, you aren't bitches, and it's always better than being a pushover. "Softly. deftly, music shall caress you. Feel it, hear it, secretly possess you...." |

| Posted about 1 year ago Thanks for your input guys, as a director though I have REALLY had to tone down myself. I had nurses scared to death to talk to me the first day, so I had to back up and as was said here already, talk and make others WANT to listen thats the key, speak and make the point with some mild levity, although my jokes can come off just as bad, I try not to be condescending but am still told that I occasionally do, so THAT is another cross I bear and am working hard on. I have very little tongue left from biting it off, BUT I seem to be getting better because the feedback has been positive from my staff to others. I have so much to give in this profession but if others turn off when you open your mouth your done! A busy RN is here |

| Posted 11 months ago yeah, I have that problem of telling it like it is! And sometimes that can result in me speaking before thoroughly evaluating what hurt I speak may cause. Although this may work against me many a times, I can not deny the passionate person I am, but only learn from my mistakes for the next time around. Maybe one day I will learn to master completely flawless assertive skills, and keep my feet out of my mouth for heaven's sake! -Angela--'--,--{@ |

| Posted 11 months ago I CAN RELATE TO SOME OF YOU GUYS. I HATE DRAMA BUT I BELIEVE IN SPEAKING UP AND GETTING TO POINT...AND IF SOMEONES FEELINGS ARE HURT IN THE PROCESS SORRY. I HATE WHEN PEOPLE TIP TOE AROUND ISSUES INSTEAD OF JUST SAYING WHAT NEEDS TO BE SAID AND BE DONE WITH IT .I ALSO LIKE WHEN PEOPLE ARE UPFRONT WITH ME REGARDLESS IF MY FEELINGS WILL BE HURT OR NOT. I CAN RESPECT A PERSON THAT TELL S IT LIKE IT IS |

| Posted about 11 hours ago I should learn to be more tactful is what I have been told a million plus times. Though I am really just being a patient advocate, sometimes they need protecting from doctors, family, etc. People that they cannot speak their thoughts to for fear of backlash. So, I stand up for they patient regardless of how many verbal tirades I get to hear later. |
