Posted over 4 years ago I just received a message from a nursing link "Member" requesting funds to be transferred for medical care. I question the validity of this member and her request! Any other thoughts on this? I want to know is there someway to report or complain about this type of solitation? Also, in the past few days I received a friend invitation from another member who in his invitation to become his friend, was a request to either buy or sell his products to other nurses! I feel like this is not the proper forum for this type of activity. Am I alone? And if not, what can be done about it? |

| Posted over 4 years ago I to received this email...I hope everyone realizes this is a scam.....the picture looks like a mug shot anyway! I also don't think soliciting should be done with invites/friend ships....maybe the link can provide a board or place to post all these different things people are selling or advertising and anyone interested can go to this section? |

| Posted over 4 years ago I sell Avon and some of the reps have been getting emails like this through our websites like this for a while. Some of the reps have been forwarding the emails to their local police departments and the FBI. This request sounds similar to what we are getting. Instead of money they were asking for large amounts of Avon products. They stem from Nigeria and surrounding countries and you can tell by the broken English. And if the return email address is yahoo related you can forward it to yahoo because scams like this are against yahoo policy. I wish these people would get a life and try to stop scamming people. |

The following is a copy of a note/post from abusyRN2 regarding this scam issue. I had written to her about this situation and wanted to share her message. "I have received several messages about the above post, please please do not anyone send hard earned money to a stranger. Next I copied the message and sent directly to site owners, I also sent this person a warning message to stop this kind of inappropriate solicitations. I am sure I will here back by tomarrow as to what else can be done here, but do not accept the friendship from this person and I would not even respond back, thank you for all of you that brought this to my attention."

| Posted over 4 years ago Look up the "Nigerian fraud" scam. This is the wikipedia link.
You'll find the exact letter - or something close is used in most cases. It's an old scam with an ever-changing face. Ted "The smallest minority on earth is the individual. Those who deny individual rights cannot claim to be defenders of minorities." - Ayn Rand |

| Posted over 4 years ago Good job networkers! Smells like a SCAM SCAM SCAM to me. Spread the word so nobody get's burned. Look at the person's friends and, if they are your friend, speak to them to be sure they are not "buying in" to the "story". It will not be the last time we see stuff like this. |

| Posted over 4 years ago Hi there everyone...a topic I can speak about with some knowledge! There are many forms of online scams and real life scams. This is one form of the scam, usually it involves someone who poses as a person who just won the lottery, but are an illegal alien in the States. They can't claim their "winnings". They approach their mark and give them a sob story, heard by another "onlooker" ( another person in the scam). Our "winner" says they will spilt money with both of the people, but the "winner" needs a amount from each to know they are of good faith and will get back some winnings. Both agree to go to the bank and withdraw specific amounts of money...needless to say our victim never sees any money! Remember what my Mom told me, if it sounds too good to be true, it is!!!!! In addition, don't ever fall for anything that is not verified! Happy days :) |
