With all the political heat going on in these forums right now I thought I would switch things to a lighter more heartwarming topic.

I would like to know what part of nursing you are most passionate about and why.

I will start. I work in gerontology now, but when I finish my RN my goal is to work in a childrens hospital. I love kids and I want to be a part of helping them get better. I have always been the kind of girl who says it's a tough job but somebodys got to do it. And I really try hard to keep a smile on my face. I have always been good at cheering people up. Sometimes that is bad because I forget about myself, but I hope that I can make a real difference. I admire all those that do now, and have done for years. Amen for those tough as nails but sweet as sugar!!

:) :)

I have two passions: Oncology and Cardiology. I am leaning a little more towards Oncology but also know a great Cardiologist (my Dad's Doctor  and I use to work for him) that says once I was done with nursing school I could come work with him.  Maybe I will just study both.

I chose those fields because you can watch those who have struggled win a battle, whether it be cancer or a heart attack.  I watched my grandmother fight hard to win her battle with CHF.  She had her good days and she had her very bad days, but she never gave up. Her heart finally did, but she was a courageous woman through out.   My father won against an almost fatal heart attack...and now he has Leukemia which he does an awesome job everyday of battling.  He works....he rides...he doesn't let it get him down.  He does have bad days...he does get depressed, but he is a fighter and we can get through it.

That is why I am passionate about those two areas of nursing.

If I stay in the nursing field...what am I saying, of course I will!  LOL!!!...anyway, my passion is to work strictly labor and delivery.  I don't care if I ever see the nursery so much as I love the idea of working with a mother to encourage new life into the world!  Maybe become a duola.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, worn out and screaming "Woo-hoo"!!!

I have to say, I love the ER. You see every age and life's dramas there. I also love the autonomy. The docs, once they get to know you are usually good about giving you credit for you intelligence and actually don't mind when you make a decison.

I loved the ER when I was in clinicals for school. I even stayed 2 hours past the time when we could go home just cause I was learning soo much! I really get kinda down about working in long term care know because I am losing so many skills! I hope they come back to me when I get out of there!

I have worked Ortho, Psych, Women's Health and Med-Surg. Loved Med-Surge! I am now applying for an MSN program with the goal of becoming a Nurse Educator. Yep... I want to teach future nurses.
