Posted about 1 year ago What do we all have in common that made us want to be nurses? Do unto others as you would have them do unto you - Always remember what goes around, comes around so be careful how you treat people, it will come back to you be it good or bad |

| Posted about 1 year ago I definatly agree with that statement of living by the golden rule! I know now that working with all the nurses I am around what kind of nurse I don't want to be. There are some that I wonder why they are nurses, they seem to have no compassion. |

| Posted about 1 year ago i agree with all of these statements but I also think that the majority of the things we do for our patients is for the look on the patients face when you have made their day or the look on their families face when you tell them that their loved one is gonna be okay, thats what makes it worthwhile to me is knowing that I have affected someone else's life in a positive manner. |

| Posted about 1 year ago perseverance is what we all have in common... or we would go back to what we were before nursing the value in changing the lives of others for the better seems to draw nurses to be nurses unfortunately the sheepishness that we endure in not just ourselves but in the other nurses around us demeans our very nature.. last night an hiv+ patient threatened and then thjrew blood on a fellow nurse after pushing against me... that is assault with a deadly weapon and a terrorist threat, witnessed by no less than 7 people. after i filed misdemeanor battery charges on the individual the other nurse awas asked if he would follow through with the felony charges.... he said no and walked away...WHAT!>>????? no wonder we are crapped on RN=target? not in my book..stand your ground and be proud of the course you chose and dont be abused by patients, doctors management or each other jb |

| Posted about 1 year ago I think we all have the love, compassion and respect of those we help rather directly or indirectly. When I think of me in the nursing profession, I really think this is what I was meant to do. we all have that special feeling when we get a simple"THank you" from a patient, when we shed a tear with them when they are scared and reassure them when they lack that confidence. We bring out the best in our patients...each other...and those we come in contact with. |

| Posted about 1 year ago we all believe in baring the burden of others as if it was our own we learn to share their pains and their joys, jus as it says in scripture you have to bare the burdens of the weak for we are strong |

| Posted about 1 year ago We all want to help others in a time of need and the feeling I get when one of my patients tells me how much they know that I have helped them in theis time of need is better than a pay check. Rob |

| Posted about 1 year ago I love the helping and healing. I also love going deeper into education with the areas of nursing that I have the most experience in.....and its the areas I find so interesting, which makes going to work a joy, not a burden. We only have one heart, take care of it! Angie |

| Posted 5 months ago I can only speak for myself. I strongly believe in the power of service to humankind. Making a small difference a little at a time to make a big difference later. Giving without expecting anything but respect for it. Understanding first then seeking to be understood. Choosing to be in the moment for others first. Being courageously vunerable yet decisive for the overall good. These are concepts I live life by in all relationships, and nursing (in its most ideal form) matches these values. |

| Posted 5 months ago I love the helping and the healing. I think that is why my patient is taking my to wellness and prevention. I have been a nurse almost 20 year, and I really want to contribute to keeping people from sick bed. I know everyone will utimately die of somthing. However, so many are on an earlier path to get there just because of bad personal choices in regards to lifestyle. I want to be a catalyst for change. Joyce Harrell, RN,OCN

I think we all went into this for the same reason~~~we want to make a difference in another persons life. It's not about the glory cuz God knows there isn't much of that it's just about the feeling at the end of the day that we made some kind of difference. No matter how bad my day is and how many people gave me crap I can always think back and smile because of one thing that some one said that made me smile and feel good about myself. How many jobs can say that. It's that hug that a patient gave you and the thank you for the simply thing you did, even if it was only a glass of water or a kind word. Our service to others is the rent we pay while here on earth!! |
