I'm in nursing school for LPN and I'm having alittle trouble keeping my exam grades up. I complete ALL assignments given to me in the class, yet I'm still having alittle trouble. The hardest part for me is remembering all the material our exam is on. I read and re-read my notes, but nothing seems to help. Any suggestions?

Monica, You say “a little trouble” Are you failing the exams or are you someone who feels they have to ace every test? One tip is to not try to memorize everything. You just need to know how to apply what you have learned. That takes time and it is hard to do on a test. Pick up an NCLEX -PN book and try some of the questions there. Get one that has the rationale. Read the rationale even if you get the question right. It will help you with other test questions and teach you why the other answers are wrong. Are you getting the same types of questions wrongs? Have you gone to the instructors? Do you understand why you have missed the questions?

Well we are starting off with VR and A & P. We recieve a chapter outline and a number of vocaublary words. If it's A & P then we also have a work book assignment on the chapter. Usually the average amount of time given to study for an exam is 2-3 days. Sometimes the exams are back to back. My PNI instructor has suggested the class form study groups. Since most of us are also seniors in highschool and have jobs, we don't really have alot of time to get tegether. I'm not really the kinda of person who needs to ace an examination. In the beginning of the class I started out really strong with both subjects. Recently though, my exam results have been declining to 69-84. I'm quite concerned about the rest of the school year and I would like to prevent my grades from declining more.

DONT WORRY SO MUCH ABOUT THE FACTS UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPTS AND APPLY THEM. IT IS MORE IMPORTANT TO KNOW HOW SOMETHING WORKS THAT THE FACT. THE FACT COME EASIER IF YOU UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT
