I think we all inspire someone.  We have all touched many many lives and I'm sure along the way have created some very positive reactions.

I think I inspire my  daughters because they tell me so often how much they love and apppreciate me.  They constantly write me notes and draw pictures of our family and tell me I'm the best mom in the world (little do they know,  I had the BEST MOM!!)  lol!!  I see everyday in their actions how my behavior, thoughts and ideas affect them and it makes me so proud.

You are just too precious Aisha!!!!!

I love the part.... "little do they know I had the best mom"!  Great stuff.

I think I inspire my two brothers and my sister.  We unfortunately have not had the greatest of mom's.  We did, however, have a super fantabulous grammie.  Nana was the strongest, most considerate, loving, and generous woman I have ever known.  She passed just a few months ago and my heart aches for her, but she made an impression on everyone she ever met.  I've always tried to be a guidance and support to my siblings, but I am even more like a mom to them now that Nana is gone.  It's really tough sometimes, because I feel so young but I'm raising teenagers (3 of them)!!!!!  However, when I see them gain a sense of pride in themselves after doing well, or begin to formulate goals for their life, and have the ability to express love and kindness despite lacking all that from our mom......I know my efforts are worthwhile.  I love them so much and pray everyday for their happiness, success, and peace.  Those kids have gone through the wringer with some of the things they have endured and I hope God is listening when I tell him I am oh so thankful that he blessed us with such a wonderful nana and that he has continued to watch over those kiddies.

Oh lord no......make the tears stop....pllllleeeeeaaasssssee.

mg....I am so sorry about the loss of your nana.  (my kids call my mom nana too)  I lost my grammie when I was only 12.  I wonder everyday of my life how much MORE I could have learned from her.  She was such an amazing, unselfish woman.  25 years later I still miss her like she left me yesterday.  Whats really sad is, I can no longer remember the sound of her beautiful voice.

mg, keep doing what you are doing....it's a beautiful thing.  I know you will be blessed for it, well actually having the opportunity is a blessing in disguise!  You are touching many lives and making a very important impact.

I think to inspire someone you must first inspire yourself. My first inspiration was from my 5th grade teacher. He read my first essay in front of the whole class. I was very embarrassed, but happy. I  have carried that nugget of inspiration with me until now and when times get difficult I think back to that moment and draw inspiration. Unfortunately in life thes moments are rare. I do my best every day to share a positive thought or encouragement. It make me feel good, and hopefully will make a small difference to the person. My aim each day is to start each day believing I can make a difference.

I try and hope I inspire new nursing students. I try to give them the respect that I may not have gotten as a student myself. Someone has to break the "Well, it was done to me!" attitude and treat a student the way you would have wanted to be treated yourself.

I hope to instill the message to every nursing student I can. Someone has to break the "Eating our young" attitude that has been so prevelant in nursing. If not me, then who? It has to start somewhere, so here I go. When I get back to work soon, I plan to ask each student to remember being a student, and to treat every nursing student behind them with the dignity and respect I gave to them.

Remember, these people may end up being your nurse one day. I would love to see schools start to adopt some kind of mantra to help students start what may become a positive step for respecting one another in this profession.
