Posted over 4 years ago Ok, ,we have so many nurses who specialize in certain areas of healthcare. I'm just curious who likes what age group, and prefers which diseases! We only have one heart, take care of it! Angie |

| Posted over 4 years ago Ahhh, you and I have much in common! I, too have a soft spot for geriatrics, especially those with dementia or who have had strokes. I love community and public health and would love nothing more than to stick my head in a pile of articles for a week. Designing a research project and following through with it is a dream of mine. I think wound care ROCKS and would love to attempt this one day as well! I don't know why, but I get the same satisfaction from packing wounds and reapplying ostomy appliances. I take pride in my dressings and miss that I don't do many where I am at now. If you can believe it, the docs do most of their own dressing changes! I love ETOH detox patients, PTSD patients, homeless patients, the list goes on...If you need an extra helping of TLC, I am your woman! |

| Posted over 4 years ago I've been out of home health for 4 years now and missing it. I felt like I was Picasso with getting that wafer around the stoma when it had an irregular shape with a perfect fit. I felt unappreciated ... We only have one heart, take care of it! Angie |
My favorite age group: elderly/geriatric................they are loving, smart, appreciative, speak their mind and have the coolest 'stories about the old days'....and wont take any crap from me..............my favorite illnesses- hands down its heart disease, with 2nd being general med surge issues which would include lots of diabetic teaching/pulmonary dx processes..........however I do have a soft spot for wound and ostomy care. Nothing better than gettting an infected stage 4 decutitus healed, or getting that perfect fit with that ostomy wafer..........................AND without the patient screaming about the skin prep burning the 'hell fire' outta me..except when I was able to teach the patient to do that himself. Once I get my BSN, if I cant get into PA school, or NP school................I'll head my butt over to the closest WOCN program in a heartbeat. Then I can play with poo and smelly oozing sores til the cows come home.
