Hiya, wow is this ever an on going situation.. 1st of all, thank you for posting your expierences.. This has been a trial for cna's for as long as I can remember..It wasn't right then and it isn't right now. Maybe it will take the action that you stated, (all cna's call off for maybe a week) to get the rest of the staff to step in and do as they were hired to do, ie: take care of the residents.. Unfortunately, I think, it's going to take a disaster to get the point across. Being in management and education myself, I have always asked the staff to do their complete job description. If these rules aren't followed, other measures are taken..But I am only one person, so when I educate, I train others to hopefully feel the same way. Maybe that's the answer, Education.. If the time is taken and this is stressed, maybe we can then work as a true team. God bless all the members of the health care team... Teresa RN, BSN

This discussion has been going on for quite a while but it is very true to this day. I have been an CNA for 9 years. I'm currently umeployed. My last job, which was at a nursing home, was just two weeks. I miss the residents but do not miss having to deal with certain nurses and other people are do not respect CNAs. It would be so nice if everyone could get a long and help each other. I have work on the 11-7 shift for five years now. I would mainly work with 2 nurses at night. One was absoulutely delightful and would help all the time. She was an older nurse who had been a LPN for a long time. The younger one on the other hand would not do a thing! Several call bells could be going on and she would not move a inch. Just sitting down doing nothing, looking at TV, or even sleeping. I hated to work with her! I was considering going back to school to be either an LPN or RN but I think I want to be a physical therapist. If I do become an nurse, I will always help and treat others with respect!
