Let us know a little bit about yourself! Where are you from and how long have you been a CNA?

Hello! I am a CNA Student in the good old state of Pennsylvania. I was inspired by my (deceased) grandmother, to become a CNA. I am enrolled in the Pittsburgh Job Corps CNA Health Occupations Program. I just got through the 350 hours and waiting for my Nov. 7th Red Cross Examination! When I get it I intend to work as a Home Heath Aide. Then after a while branch off in a different direction.
@cheri4ever Sorry to hear about your back problems! I hope you have a speedy recovery after your surgery!

I am an aide in Indiana. I have only been an aide for about a year now. I am currently awaiting results on my pre-exam into the LPN program which would be for 2008. I would like to get my LPN and follow through later by getting my RN. I would absolutely love to work in neo-natal.

I have been a CNA for five years now. I love to help make a difference in peoples life and the best way is to help them with their basic needs ADL I would have to say if there were a specialty mine would be the shower girl which we used to switch off and designate someone for shower girl everynight. I am currently not working and my dad is partially paralyzed and in the hospital and I have twins 6 months old so now is not the time to go back to work I was working when I was a few months pregnant but was put on bedrest. I plan to become a LPN I was told it would be an easier transition being I am a Mommy and all and then later when I have more time to go back and become a RN so that is my plan.
I live in Florida nearly all of my life and I like it here although Christmas just does not seem like Christmas without snow but my husband who grew up in CT said he does not miss shoveling the snow not one bit. :)

Hello all. I've been a CNA for 11 months, yay!! I like my work but my true calling is nursing. I'm a student at a community college that has an excellent reputation in the area. Hopefully in a year and a half, I will graduate with my ADN ( I hope I don't jinx myself.....) I like working in the healthcare field. Working as a CNA is the best way to break into the industry. What better way to get to know the nitty gritty of it all. Besides, if a person can handle the job of a CNA they can pretty much handle anything. We have a couple of prissy nurses that could never do what we do. I feel sorry for them, they don't have the strength ( physically and mentally ) that we do. So good luck to all of the aides that are going for thier next step in life and to all the aides that are content where they are, the healthcare industry would never survive with you. God bless you allll

Hello Everyone. I've been a CNA for 5 months YAY!!! I love doing this type of work. I started wanting to be a nurse when I was very little because my Aunt is, but when I was little my Great-Grandmother was very sick & her and I were also very close, HOspice came in to take care of her but I always helped, thats when I knew what I really wanted to do. I'm a senior in High School in the state of New York. I go to BOCES which incase there is any of you's that dont know is like a technical school we can go to for half the day, I've went since my junior year for a class called Health Occupations 1 &2, this is my second year, last yeah is when I completely my CNA training & test. In July I'm starting my pre-requisites for the nursing program at Canton College, I've very excited and nervous, I've heard so much about how the nursing program is so hard, that it scares me. But I dont care how hard it is I want it, so I'm not giving up. Good luck to everyone going to school & going back=]!

HI everyone. I've been a CNA for 5 years now. I'm currently going to community college to get my RN-AD. It's funny to me, because when I started working as a CNA I wasn't sure if I was going to like it , and then it just pretty much stuck with me. Right now I work in a longterm care/rehab facility. I really enjoy working with Alzheimer's patients. I find it very interesting and challenging when finding activities and different ways to orient them to their surroundings and helping them accomplish thier daily routines. Sometimes the things the patient's say or do can be a hoot though!!! In the end, I'm glad I became a CNA, it changed my way of thinking of life, and makes me happy for the things I have everyday!

Hi everyone! I'm in Iowa but I came from the Philippines. I've been a CNA for over a year now. I came to apply for work without any experience and training on being a Nursing Aide. I did a Nanny job for 3 years before but that was it. When I was on the interview I asked if they offer paid training and I was willing to do it. Three months later I passed the skills and knowledge tests in a local community college.
The first 2 months in the training I felt so worn out I wanted to quit. Added to that was the feeling of being pushed aside, left alone, unfriendly remarks by a co-worker, and a "bully" co-worker. I am Asian, I speak and understand English, and I can do what the others can. Though I may not be as fluent in English as the Natives, I did not have any problem talking with the patients so that I never had any incidents of scratching, biting, and slapping from them. I can put to bed a patient who would not say Yes to anyone in our shift.
Anyway, this kind of job is like a calling to me. I never thought of doing this but I am now preparing to get on the Med Aide class in April to further my knowledge in this practice. I'm loving the pleasure I get when I see a patient is being taken cared of really well.

I have been a CNA for 3 years now and I love it. I currently work in a nursing home on the Alzheimer's floor. I recently started school to get my RN and plan on either being a trauma nurse or working in labor and delivery.
