My mom inspires me. She was an OB nurse until retiring. She has many battles to fight each day, with MD, and I thank God that she has taught me to be kind and compassionate. I always take care of my patients as though she is standing over me, giving direction and guidance.

Thank you for this post.  BC it was my mom who inspired me also!  When I graduated junior high,I  didn't want to go to the local high school. In NYC they have vocational high schools,so I embarked on going to one of those. It was my mom's idea for me to go for nursing. It was something she had always wanted to do. So,I went to Jane Addams Voc. H.S. in the South Bronx. Graduated with honors at 17yrs old and have been at it ever since!  Five years later my mom became an LVN also, her dream!  She's retired now,but when I look back on my long career,I have her to thank for it! She inspired me then, and still does today.  She's my consultant, that listens to all my complaints about work, and has inspired me to go back to school today!  She has been such a blessing to me!

My mum also inspires me...she is an RN and a Mid Wife.  She is such a strong woman, who has over come so much!  My grandmother is/was (hard to say now, she is in a nursing home in England) an alcoholic and was very abusive towards my Grandfather (RIP) and my mum and her sister.  My mum nursed in  England and then was given the opportunity to come to the US to practice nursing, she was first in New York and then went to Dallas, where she met my Dad.  She is a selfless person, who took great care of my sister and I.  When my Grandmother (my Daddy's mum) was dying she took wonderful care of her as well, and now that my  Grandfather is alone, when he is hospitlized, she goes and sits at his bed side as she did with my Meme.  She struggles everyday, she is my father's only support line and she does a wonderful job of taking care of not only his Leukemia, but his other "diseases" as well.  My father is having a hard time, at this point, dealing with his various illnesses, and she comforts him, and provides a stable home life for him, regardless of his attitude when he wakes up.  She is truely his best friend....  My mom is a courageous, strong, and a good hearted woman.  She has unconditional love and a heart that is forever forgiving.  I love you Mama!

My mother inspired me as well.  She passed away Mother's Day 2003 after a year long battle with lung cancer, and there is not a day that goes by that I dont miss that lady!

I took her to all of her appoitments, (my mother never drove, never got her license).   I saw how caring the cna's, phlebotomists, nurses and doctors were and I knew then I had to get into the medical field.  The whole time my mother battled lung cancer she continued to work every day.  I would take her for chemo or radiation, then drop her back off at work, she didnt want to miss work...even after begging and offering her money she still insisted on going to work.  She retired the end of April then passed shortly after that.

So when I think I have a tough class or challenge going on, I tell myslef it's a cake walk compared to what my mother went through.  And I know once I complete my dream she is going to be happy for me.  She will always be my inspiration!

My mother inspired me to be the best that I can be.  I never met a more care and compassionate peron in my life. Even after her death, I can still feel her presents as I care for my patients.
