Posted over 4 years ago Hello all. As election day comes to a close I think we should all join together here and vow to start over fresh tommorrow morning. There is no longer anything we can do to change peoples minds after tonight. I will start by first apologizing to anyone whom I may have snapped at or hurt their feelings. Tommorrow is a new day and no matter who wins or loses life will go on right. Lets all be freinds and start up some interesting topics on something else. ANYTHING BUT POLITICS PLEASE! LOL. So go have fun at your parties to those of you who don't have to work in the morning! Have a margarita for me! "Softly. deftly, music shall caress you. Feel it, hear it, secretly possess you...." |

| Posted over 4 years ago Apparently the brawls are not over. It IS time to come together for the best of everyone. I did not vote for Obama but he is now our president-elect. Time will tell what kind of person and president he is. Let's give him the chance to prove himself. He has been hired for the job. Let's allow him to take office and begin doing that job. BOTH sides need to stop this pettiness. The election is over. Comon folks lets shake hands, give hugs and get on with life. Redneck I is...but bigot I taint! |

| Posted over 4 years ago This site has alot of wonderful passionate people....and we have seen that since the election posts started. I agree that a truce is in order. I never posted in any of the political topics, not because I am not passionate about our government, but because while yes I feel passionate, I also feel as though we should not take jabs at one another or lose our goodness because we disagree. My best friend Kel is an Obama supporter, I on the other hand was a McCain supporter. We agreed to disagree, we listened to what each other had to say and we are still the best of friends. Everyone has an opinion and while we may not agree, we must still remain civil and understand that is our right to believe in and vote for who we think will do the best for our country. It is much like religion...we can teach the word of God, but if the person we are teaching it too, doesn't want to believe, that is his choice, why argue about it? Lets get back to the old nursing link....we have a new President whether you voted for him or not. We were all friends before this, why can't we be now that it is over, regardless of what political side you fall on. |

| Posted over 4 years ago I like the idea of the "truce" too. It seems like this election went on forever and pissed off a lot of people. Its over now and lets just hope "change" will come to please us all. I didn't support Obama, but I hope he'll be the kind of President our country needs. |

| Posted over 4 years ago Thanks to everyone who vowed to "call a truce". I have grown to love this site as a place I come to talk with others about our chosen profession. I love to read the articles and join in the conversations. I so enjoy learning new things as I am a "baby" nurse and could use all the help I could get. So thanks to all that came to say lets play nice. I look forward to all the invigorating discussions we will continue to have. Love you all! See you on the link! | Posted over 4 years ago I'm glad that there is a truce going on now because like jenny said, well i'm not a baby nurse, i'm a 'not even born yet' nurse! LOL! Anyways, because of the posts in the political forums, I had some opinions about some people before i even got to know them (you know who you are!) and know i'm glad i've gotten to know them because i made a good friend whose a great nurse out of it!!!!!

| Posted over 4 years ago Yes, let's stick to the truce. There are a lot of students in the Lounge forum asking for advice from experienced nurses. Let's help them. Today's mighty oak is just yesterday's nut that stood it's ground.

Great idea..............gotta keep the students and those who want to be students inspired.. I'm going to go find an older post from a student looking for help and didn't get an answer. I may not give them an answer due to inability on my part on knowledge base, but I'm going to have her/him keep resending til they get an answer...........or give them all of your names to email !! | Posted over 4 years ago Guys and Dolls. I think a truce from the bar room brawls is called for, but there is never a time to cease healthy discussion about things political. We just need to keep the discussions civil and make sure that we have FACTS to back-up what we say in our OWN words, maybe give a reference . But, no cutting and pasting. Regurgitate what you read or heard (this is a nursing site, so we can all handle a little regurgitation!). The election is over, Barack Obama is our prez-elect (and you know how I feel about that), but now we have one prez and we need to stand behind him, right or wrong. He faces tasks so humongous that we must all get behind him (McCain and Nader supporters) and pray that he can deliver on some of his problems. My concern is that Nancy Pelos and Harry Reid will try to push their agendas on him, so I pray that Obama can say: "I'm ONLY signing a bill if it has the best interests of the country, the whole country, at heart. So, I think what we all need to do is follow the developments on the political scene and bring your thoughts, ready to discuss them and LISTEN to someone else's intepretation of the same fact. This will do more to bring us together as a nation, for: "A House Divided Amonsgt Itself Cannot Stand..." |

| Posted over 4 years ago I personally do not want to have to turn my blogging into a research project...so Team Rn I am with you... I do not however think we need rules and regs. This is a place to talk and discuss in anyway we want, however, I personally will not read long drawn out stuff. I do not want to read the newspaper here.... I do not want to have to watch everything I say, OH is that allowed, Oh no did I spell wrong etc.... I just think if you want to participate great, and if not bye, bye... | Posted over 4 years ago I never said you couldn't participate. I only suggested a break from the politics for a while and to ask everyone to play NICE! Thats all I asked for and I don't think it was to much to expect. I know things have calmed down, but some people also haven't been back on the disscussions for a while.I don't want any of the debating to stop I just wanted people to be nicer. Jenny, it looks like pretty much everyone is playing nice. I feel the reason some have not been in discussions is because of this weirdness lately. What it looks like to me in this thread is that you're trying to appoint yourself hall monitor. Its starting to look like nagging. We are adults and dont need to be spoken to like children............now, I dont think that's too much to ask either. Its going to make alot of people upset if there is the same nagging going on about playing nice. Oh, and we certainly appreciate you allowing us to participate. Us supplicants are truly grateful. We only have one heart, take care of it! Angie |

| Posted over 4 years ago I most certainley am not trying to be anyones mother or make people feel like I am nagging. I was only sticking up for myself! Would you please read the ORIGINAL post and tell me what was so nagging about it? I don't understand why you think I am the one nagging about nicety. Plenty of other posts out there not written by me saying what you are accussing me of saying. "Softly. deftly, music shall caress you. Feel it, hear it, secretly possess you...." |

I also never meant anything like that either. When i was talking about playing nice (like a week ago!) Things were still kinda nasty. One forum even got shut down. I realize everything is good know but I think it's fair that I should be able to stick up for myself. "Softly. deftly, music shall caress you. Feel it, hear it, secretly possess you...." |

| Posted over 4 years ago Hmmm..............there is a missing post here somewhere. Anyhoo..................here and in other threads there seem to have been some things that were said which appeared 'condescending'. I'm probably the first to say it. I'm not speaking for anyone but myself......but this same attitude will get old after a while. I read the original post..........and I had an earlier response as well. | Posted over 4 years ago Please tell me what other threads you are talking about. I don't think I have ever been anything but nice to you. If you want to know the truth and I don't care if the whole world knows it, the way I write is an atempt to make me sound smart and like i know what I am talking about. Some of the things in some of these posts I had never even heard of or even had opinions of, until I went and looked it up. I mean in no way to sound like I am looking down my nose at any of you. I respect each of you for being nurses. I guess i should apologize to those that thought I was acting this way. I did not intend it to be like that. I would like to think I am easy to get along with because I have never had a problem like this one before. So again sorry. "Softly. deftly, music shall caress you. Feel it, hear it, secretly possess you...." |

I think rules and regs should be in order for the activism board. i'll start by: rule #1 no profanity rule #2 no name-calling rule #3 no verbal acts of disrespect (may the____of 500 camels...) and stuff like that (even though it may be said in jest, not everyone will know that rule #4 no copy/cut and paste. Read the article and then write YOUR interpretation. If you think others should read it: provide a link so the can rea it. rule #5 let's try and stay on subject. rule #6 remember that there are students in the lobby who ask questions and they're every right to an answer. So, try to hit their posts. SURE, THIS ROOM IS OURS TO RELAX IN AND 'LET OUR HAIR DOWN;' BUT WE DON'T HAVE TO SLING MUD TO LET OUR HAIR DOWN! ANNIE rule #5 let's try and stay on the subject |

| Posted over 4 years ago OMG, I feel like I just returned to elementary school. Is that what this is all about? Rules, Rules and More Rules... My rule... No rules....Just be who you are. If you get inappropriate someone on here is sure to tell you.... I just skip what I want to read and read what I feel like, no must, no don'ts and no tests thank goodness.... | Posted over 4 years ago You are right. To many rules could make this feel like school all over again. I for one have had enough of that. I like to debate. I like to see everyones opinions come out. I enjoy getting on the subjects people are so passionate about. I love that we have a group on here so exceptional that we can all forget aboout the drama and still be good and friendly in the forum next door. It only proves to me that the nurses on here are TRUE ADVOCATES for what they believe, I would be proud to say that I work with you. Comfortable that you are the nurse making sure I, or my family get the care that we desrve, and honored to do the same for you. I am kind of sad that I will never have the opportunity to work side by side with some of you. Thanks for everything you have all taught me so far and all the great advice. You are a great group of people. Have a wonderful rest of the week! "Softly. deftly, music shall caress you. Feel it, hear it, secretly possess you...." |

I'm not advocating a return to grade school with rules and rules. But we do need to have some unwritten stuff that prevents the nastiness from happening in the first place. I'm not into structure that can stifle free expression of thought and the passion that goes along with it. I like the passion. I just think we need to be aware that others may feel just as passionately-IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION- and give them their due. Heaven forbid this board become one where we all have to worry about stepping on every little foot and walk on eggshells. But it seemed to me that before the election when things were getting 'nasty' and heated, people were so passionate about their candidates or their candidates platforms that feelings got hurt. Lets not swing that far, but lets not go so far as to take the fun and passion out of the forum. |
