Hate to put a damper on anyone regardless of your voting situation.  It has become very apparent to me that we are surely in the end times.  I think as christians, we need to spend more time spreading the gospel as this is going to be coming to an end.  We need to pray for people's souls........  It is sad what we are facing and just be aware of the times changing as the Lord stated, the change will be so rapid and natural that most people will be unaware, we need to keep our eye to the clouds in search of his return.  It will be soon.

Have a Great Day and God Bless us and our Nation.

Lisa...............I agree with you.  I think sometimes that  people might feel threatened <not sure if that's the right word> when someone is comfortable with their faith, and they are proud and want to share their beliefs. Thanks for the reminder to pray for our country.

We do have freedom of  religion.........and that also includes those who dont believe in a higher power. If you dont share someones beliefs, that's your right.

I wrote this in a email on election day to a friend,

I was listening to the car radio this morning on the way to vote and there was an interview with a young woman who took her daughter out of school to vote.   She was so excited about this election saying.. “I have hope for the first time in my life.  I won’t have to worry about putting gas in my car or paying my mortgage because if I help ‘him’ with my vote.. ‘he’ will help me.”  "He is my messiah!"

I actually heard this with my own ears… I am not embellishing!  I hope to think her point was made with a broad brush speaking to a big picture of hope, but it still made me cringe. You probably know who this young woman was voting for, BUT it does not matter.. what matters is that UNLESS the candidate she is voting for owns the gas station chain she frequents, and owns the note on her house .. her hope is NOT in either candidate.

BUT that is not the point of this email.  While voting is important, and who we choose will make a difference this country will move, BUT no matter who is elected neither candidate is Jesus Christ and he will NOT be the Messiah…he is NOT the chosen one.

What this country needs is a revival towards God.  Happy is the nation whose God is the Lord, not happy is the nation whose god is whoever you want him/her to be.  There is One God not a fuzzy vague entity, and America needs to celebrate HIM not apologize for believing in God.

So no matter the outcome of this election.. let’s as believers be faithful.  Love God will all our hearts, souls, and minds, and then others as ourselves.  Pray for our leaders, but know our hope is in the one true God and not any man, or plan of man.

There is a big difference in sharing and shoving it down one's throat.  Many of us here on this forum are not Christians, yet we believe in a  higher power.  I have to point out if not for the religion I was raised in,  you wouldn't have one.  This country was founded on religious freedom.  We are also a country with a hugely diverse population and along with this diversity are religious differences.

Instead of continual negativity, why not try and understand how others feel?  Why not ask what we were taught and think outside the box a bit?  Why not embrace differences and accept others have different beliefs?  Why not concentrate on getting to know, rather than assumptions?  Why not show acceptance and tolerance, rather than hate and anger?  Why not?

dmazment..............trying here!  I didn't think my post was negative............was trying to make it seem 'tolerant'.  No disrespect intended,  and I was trying to emphasize freedom of religion.  There are definately better ways to put things.  I dont think anybody is trying to shove anything down anybody's throat..........sorry if it came out that way, was not the intent.

Jesus said, "A good man's speech reveals the rich treasures within him. An evil-hearted man is filled with venom, and his speech reveals it."

Mark 13:22 For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall show signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.

2 Tim 4:3 For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.

2 Tim 4:4 They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.

While I do not believe that the vast majority "hates" Obama as some stated. I do not feel a vast majority held a vigile watch with open eyes letting his past and associates speak for his character.  However, that is past now, wait and see what kind of president he will truly be. Let us wait and see who is right and who is wrong in the long run.  God is the only one who knows the end from the beginning.  We being human are obligated to give the man a chance.  I hope he and his followers will do the same for us.

"'Liberal' is not a dirty word. 'Conservative' is not a dirty word. 'Hate' IS a dirty word."

May God Bless You!

I AM A CHRISTIAN, AND PROUD OF IT. I THINK THAT IF YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE YOUR RELIGIOUS BELIEFS A PLATFORM FOR YOUR POSTS, NO MATTER WHAT FORUM, THEN YOU SHOULD BEHAVE AS JESUS WOULD. UNFORTUNELTY, THIS IS NOT THE CASE AND IF GIVES THE WRONG MESSAGE OF WHAT CHRISTIANITY IS ALL ABOUT. LOVE, PATIENCE, KINDNESS,PEACE,TOLERANCE.ETC...

CHRISTIANS ARE NOT TO JUDGE OR GLOAT, WE ARE TO HUMBLY REACH THOSE IN NEED.

LET'S SEE IF WE CAN START ACTING LIKE JESUS WOULD HAVE US ACT. ME INCLUDED.

AND TO LISA, GOD LOVES US ALL, NOT JUST THE REPUBLICANS, OR THE WEALTHY OR THE HARD WORKING. REMEMBER HE LOVES THE ONE'S THAT DON'T WORK, THAT ARE ALCOHOLIC'S AND ADDICTS. AND IT IS NOT FOR YOU TO JUDGE!!!!!!!!! THIS IS WHY I HAVE QUESTIONED YOUR RELIGION BECAUSE I FIND YOUR POSTS TO BE VERY DISTRUBING COMING FROM A SO CALLED CHRISTIAN. YOU PUT PEOPLE DOWN ON A REGULAR BASIS AND JUDGE OTHERS CONTINUALLY, THIS IS NOT WHAT MY RELIGION TEACHES ME. MAYBE WE HAVE DIFFERENT BIBLES???

Only God knows when the end times are upon us!  The bible has many figurative representations of what those times will look like, which can only be interpreted by man.  Interpretations are subjective and vary extensively.  I seem to remember some groups of people claiming to know that Y2K would be the Apocalypse as well.  We know how that turned out.   The bible warns us that there will be many false prophets among us.  Right now, I think a lot of people are freaked out by the change we have before us, but I know that my King James bible tells me to be wise and that fear is not of God.

I have heard several people talk of emails that are circulating with this frightening message of the end times being near (because Obama is now the president)......I can only assume the same type of individuals that spread lies about Obama during the campaign are also responsible for this.  Because those same individuals have a history of lies and deceit, I shall use my God given wisdom and chalk this up to another instance of promoting lies and fear.

Unless one has decided to move out of the country, we ALL live here and will benefit from a successful Obama presidency.  Let's pray that God anoints his mind with wisdom for every decision he makes as president.

okay okay so everyone ignored the request to NOT start a post on Religion!?! We are ALL still recovering from the political posting, can we not return to nursing topics? Just do not want to see more ugliness and this is exactly how it starts, everyone gets passionate here, have we not learned this yet?? Just MY un-official opinion. I am going to say another prayer for peace to be in all of our hearts here.

It is not a "damper" that Jesus will be returning. At least not to us Christians who know where we will be going.

"The SIGN of the times"  I was excited when I saw the request from a friend to join this group, until I read the posting. My faith in God is not determined by who is president.  I know my redeemer lives.  To the ones that were so disheartened by the election.  Has your life been so wonderful before that you think God has forsaken you now?  I think not!  The vast majority of voters are spiritually searching for something or someone to believe in.  Pray for them and yourself.  Obama is not the messiah, neither is McCain.

But he, answering, said to them, An evil and false generation is looking for a sign; and no sign will be given to it but the sign of the prophet Jonah: Matt 12:39

As the people were gathering around him, Jesus said, "The people living today are evil. They look for a miraculous sign. But the only sign they will get is the sign of Jonah. Luke 11:29

Thank you so much for this post.

I am very sad to learn that many who call themselves, "Christian" are so spiritually dead, and so full of fear. I have met alot of people who believe they are going to heaven, because their family goes to Church or they were raised in a Christian home. Those of us who have been saved, by the grace of Jesus, know this is NOT true. I think this is why there is so much fear, the Holy Spirit does not reside in them.

I do pray for them and myself, and I for one am not affraid of the coming of our Lord. It will be a glorious day for the believers in Jesus Christ.

I hesitated to post any response to this. If you knew me, you would know that I don't tell anybody what to believe, and I am sure not smart enough to say who is right and who is wrong. It doesn't matter to me anyway, as far as how I live my life. So why bother to post any response? It is not to choose sides.

Luke 17:21 "... the kingdom of God is within you". How awesome is THAT? In the big scheme of things, I am an insignificant person. Might as well just sit on the porch and not bother anybody. But something in me seeks to connect to something much larger than my self. It moves me to think, to feel, to act. I am not perfect, and at times I have yelled at God. (Then I get nervous and wait for the lightning bolt, lol.)

Are the end times near? Do we know what is going to happen 2 minutes from now or 2 days from now? No, and we have no control over it. All I can do is try to make a difference in whatever small task is assigned to me. That might mean cleaning a bathroom, starting an IV, or whatever else comes up. It is all the same to me, and I don't let myself get too big-headed or feel like I am too good to do anything. Whoever is in charge of the universe is also in charge of measuring the importance of things.

Thank you all, for helping me to be a better nurse. What a journey this is. Some day it will all make sense.

Thank you, Lisa, for a great post. Really got some discussion going!

your friend

As a Christian I can't say whether we are in the end times or not.  At times, listening to the news , I feel that we are!  Who is to know but God!  I can only pray for everyone in this world as well as for myself!

We just finished reading the book of Nahum in our bible study class between services...I think this is a great example of prophecy, and we can even apply it to our lives today!  Just three short chapters, but a very impressive message for christians.  I believe that end times wil be upon us without most of us even realizing it...

"But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into.  You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him."  Luke 12:39-40

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, worn out and screaming "Woo-hoo"!!!

Thank you Lisa for this post! This is a "HOT TOPIC" and one that needs to be addressed as christians! If you are a christian with a measure of dissernment, then you can see prophecies being put in place before your eyes! These are indeed exciting times! These are end times! God is speaking to man. He is trying to get our attention!  This election,I have seen hearts exposed! No matter who you voted for,President-elect Obama is the man for "such a time as this"! Like Esther,he is aware of his calling! I believe God has prepared him, qualified him and justified him! Many are called but few are chosen! God has chosen him to do what "he" has prepared him to do from the foundation of the world! Need Let us never forget who is in control!  God has been,is and always will be in control! God doesn't need our help or opinions,we've seen that! But,like Isaiah 43:19

For I am about to do something new.

See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?

I will make a pathway through the wilderness.

I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.

What we must do as christians is "PRAY". Pray that souls be saved, set free & delivered! God is coming in the clouds.........soon!! Very soon people!  Our president elect has an awesome responsibility, but God has prepared him for it! I have met Michelle Obama personally, and they both have a heart of God & the people of America! Our job people is to get right with God,show your family & friends the way!  The bible tells us some will be lost, some of those we love dearly! Know that we cannot force our faith others, for the simple fact that we don't know others relationship or their level with God!  God has a plan & purpose! Change is coming for the good, and the bad! I believe that all the works of the devil will be exposed! His time is running out!!! No,Obama is not the antichrist.......READ YOUR BIBLES PEOPLE!!!  But  God has a purpose for his leadership!  God is exalted in all things! He will not take second seat in our lives! We are still yet in the disspensation of GRACE!!!  Inspite of what goes on, God wants no one to perish!  Our minds should be focused toward praying one for another, sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with the lost! Only what we do for Christ will last!!!   Visit me @ www.rhema4life.com or www.myspace.com/duffy29 Be blessed all,and prepare for God's changes!! Number 8 represents "New beginings"  Number 9 is the number of judgment and God's ordained purpose!  Note...the Catholic church is expelling those who voted for Obama!  If they only realize, how God has just delivered and set them free!! Now that,is indeed Gods doing!   Bless u all,Sondra

I, too, share your view on this.   We are surely in the time of the end. I do pray and hope that more of us nurses would see these things and really work to spread the word.  Presently we are surel lukewarm and until we step out in faith God cannot do anything with us. Lets pray for each other and for cleansing that we will receive the latter rain. It would be good if each morning we all would petition the throne of God at the same time as where there is much prayer there is  alot of power.

I have been on the battlefield of Iraq now i am on God`s battlefield. Please pray for me and each other that we will stay the course and at the end we will hear "Well done, mission accomplish, enter into the joy of the Lord"

God`s richest blessing to you all and lets meet on the sea of glass.
