Posted over 2 years ago I went to school for my BSN after 15 yrs in Banking. I wanted to do something that made a difference. Anyone need a house forclosed on? A lawsuite maybe?? I guess I was around 35 or so. A yr after I graduated I became very ill and was forced to quit work to deal with my health. One thing lead to another........ Life happended and 10 + yrs later I am now re entering the work force. I just started on the floor in the same facility I left over ten yrs ago. I am NOT 50...I WILL NOT be 50...I REFUSE not matter what math you what to use!! lol But I guess I qualify for the late bloomer club..... if sore feet (and other places) and an overwhelmed brain have anything to do with it! But I will survive ! I will thrive! Here's to support stockings and hairdressers how insure no gray ever appears!

Posted over 2 years ago i felt the calling when i was a neonate!!! my fate was sealed by the outstanding nurses at the U of IA and the VA in Iowa City, Iowa, when my dad was battling renal failure and 3 failed transplants...it is still hard to talk about to this day, but i was 1 of the best matches, but he refused to let me give him a kidney, d/t possible complications w/future pregnancies,,,anti-rejection drugs were still experimental, and my dad layed his life on the line to help future kidney pts,,,my Family spent many years between U of I and the VA,,while i was in my CNA class in '77, my dad died, and i was home with him and did not recognize the s/s of v-fib,,mom was working,,i tucked him into bed, went to sleep, only to be awoken by fam friend telling me of dads passing,,,i don't know to this day why, but i said 'i know',,,so for the next 30 yrs, i worked hard as a CNA/Med tech and alcoholic,,,sobered up, and couple of years later a local college started a 'fast track' LPN program,,, i feel very strongly that God does things in His time and i thank Him every day, often, for giving me the PRIVLEGE to be a nurse,,,that's my story and i'm sticking to it!!! God Bless to all,,,it's never too late

Posted over 2 years ago OMG I admire all you "late bloomers" I too after many years of marriage and raising children, then a divorce I decided to go into nursing at age 39. I have been a LPN now for 15 years and I am serioulsy thinking of going back to school for my RN . I am now 57years young. I love nursing and learn something everyday. It is very challenging. Best thing I ever did.

Posted over 2 years ago I was 46 when I began my college education process. I am now 48 and about to graduate from a local community college with my Associates and then in January, I begin Nursing school for my BSN - by the time I am graduate with my BSN, I will be 50 years young....I have been enjoying the process so far! My children are older and I am able to dedicate much time to my studies which makes this the perfect time for me to be in school.
