Has anybody ever had one of those pedicures where you put your feet in a tub of little fishies and they eat the callous/gross stuff off your feet?  I saw it being advertised on an Atlanta news show several weeks ago..............now the fish are in my small town.  I love pedicures but I have reservations about putting my feet into a tub of strange fish to eat the stuff off my feet.   Seems so gross.  Also, how can you know the fish has been checked for bloodborn pathogens?  What if they gnawed on somebody who had hepatitis.....or flesh eating bacteria?  Do they have teeth and if so, do they get their teeth checked?  BTW.............I have my own pedicure/manicure doohickeys, i dont like strange machines on my hands or feet.  I've seen people get bad infection with poor hygiene at the nail places.  Oh, here's a thought......i'm in a rural area, its beautiful, for those who like to go fishing..................can you snag a few of the fish that ate your feet and use them for bait?  Is this the grossest topic on nursing link?  I'm sure I can come up with more, too for those who are interested.

If a guy read this and gives me a thumbs down.  I'll do a grosser post and label it something cool, for future reference.  For you who complain, it said you weren't suppose to read this so it's your own fault if you puke. 

Ahhhhh heheheheheh......LOL!!!!  ROTF.  This is the craziest thing I have ever heard.  I don't think we have this in Illinois....yet.  Angie, you have a way with words that would make anything hillarious.  I love it.  Can't say I would try this either.  What if they kept eating and ate too much and wouldn't this tickle????

My girlfriend lives in Japan and they have those spas.  She says it tickles....I don't know that I would go for that.  I am funny about people touching my feet, I couldn't imagine fish chewing on them.

I saw this on a show called ask the doctors, a guy actually did it on the air. Anyway one of the doctors said you can't get any diseases from this. Something about fish don't pass on disease to people and they dont get it form other people. I am not sure exactly how he worded it but he said you absolutly cannot "catch" something by doing this.  

I had also seen something about it on tv.Doesnt look too relaxing to me..Count me out ..Lol..

I wonder how hard it would be to put some kiddie pools in the garage and try to start a fish farm for foot care.  A gallon size ziplock bag for $10.........I think that's really reasonable.  You are only responsible for the water, and no feeding them.  For potential buyers of the fish, you could charge $2 per foot per 5 minutes.  That would save on fish food.

I would do it! I've never had a pedicure or a manicure, but this is bound to be better than having lots of chemicals put on your feet to slough off the dead skin....hhhmmm....I might have to check this one out! I'm a pretty big supporter of natural and homeopathic health and hygiene. Oh and regarding the earlier comment about the PedEgg...YES! I have one and I LOVE it!

LOL Angie! Go for it! Let us know how it goes. A PedEgg is a foot file that works wonders. It's different from the old fashioned ones in that it's made with a microplane that does a much better job and won't cut you (unless you file too much), plus it's ergonomically designed to fit in the palm of your hand to make filing easier. It also traps the sloughed off skin so you can dump it in the trash. It really does work! I have awful calluses and dry skin on my heels and nothing has helped very much until the PedEgg. They cost about $10 (unless you get the fancy one with the handle) and the microplane is able to be replaced when it gets dull. The refills cost about $10 for 3. Great investment! 

Ewwww I am one of those people that hold my breath when I take off peoples socks. Not because I hate feet because I do but because the older generation that I work with tend to have very dry skin, everywhere, so when I see it I hold my breath. Weird I know, but I would rather deal with their blood than their dry flakes of skin floating around in the air that I breathe. Sorry if I just grossed you out! LOL
