Posted over 4 years ago I have read that no rings are preferred, but a plain wedding band is allowed. What are your experiences? I have a diamond eternity band. The diamonds are set within the band so there are no rough edges. Would this be acceptable? HMJensen |

| Posted over 4 years ago I am assuming that you are talking about what is acceptable in clinicals. Your eternity band is probably not going to be allowed because the settings around the diamonds are great places to collect bacteria and dirt. |

| Posted over 4 years ago clinicals are one thing, but working is also a tough one. I work in ER, and my wedding band is too big and can catch on patients and medical equipment. You have to be careful about that one. A good man loves other. A better man loves God. A great man loves God and lives well among others! I miss you daddy!

| Posted over 4 years ago I wore my plain gold band only for clinicals. I bought an eternity band with channel set stones and wear it to work. It is like anything else, you wear to work, you have to wash it throughly. But with it being channel set, no problems with scratching clients with it, or it tearing my gloves. |

| Posted over 4 years ago I agree with Shan on this one...the small areas in the channel can get NASTY! Wear it to work for a few days and then culture it. Don't be surprised to see E.Coli, Staph, etc. YUCK! |

| Posted over 4 years ago Thanks for your input everyone. My husband and I dated for 15 years before I finally got the ring, so it is definately something I hold close to my heart. Perhaps I am being a bit too sentimental. Thank you for all of your opinions. HMJensen |

| Posted over 4 years ago My husband, a cardiac nurse, bought me a wedding band that has a diamond set in it. It is titanium and the diamond looks as if it were floating. I have no problems with cleaning/washing around it. The band does not get scratched easily either. I have had my ring since January 2008 and no scratches. We bought it at Ultra Diamonds and it was between 150-200 dollars.

You could grow E.coli and various Staphs by simply culturing skin from most any part of your body.

| Posted over 4 years ago I am into my 4th year with a wonderful husband who gave me the most gorgeous ring set.............2 carat solitare with another carat worth of diamonds on the band. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, I dont wear it to work. It makes me so sad, but I'm a germaphobe. I normally only wear my rings for social occasions. Besides..........I almost took out my own husbands left eye with that rock........I dont want to get sued for blinding a patient. Love my ring............love my record of never blinding a patient on the job better. We only have one heart, take care of it! Angie |

| Posted over 4 years ago If your rings are really sentimental and you can't bear to part with them while you are at work, then why don't you try wearing them on a chain around your neck? Then you can put them back on your fingers when you get home. This will prevent the germs, but you still will have your rings close to your heart (literally!). I have seen this done by many health care professionals. |

| Posted over 4 years ago A special circumstance is working a psych unit where there are violent patients. I always took my wedding band off and kept it in my wallet. I've seen a patient attack a nurse, pull off the ring and throw it down the toilet or swallow it. Once I forgot to put it back on. My wife found it in ,my wallet - try to explain THAT... |

| Posted about 4 years ago I must admit to getting a good laugh reading some of these responses~especially the ring in the wallet!! |

) will wash off the vast majority of bacteria (both good and bad) and some viruses. Unfortunately the same can't be said for objects (rings and watches, for example) that have small or difficult areas to clean. Some people say alcohol gel/foam will take care of it, but I just don't trust it.

You really dont want to wear a ring with stones at all to work~yes it's nice to show your beautiful ring off but its simply not worth it. I had to take my rings off numerous times over my 22 years at work. The days of pinning it inside my scrubs with a saftey pin flashed back in my mind~then the panic after throwing my scrubs in the dirty laundry at work at realizing my rings were still pinned to them~then searching the laundy basket~UGHHH!! Also I have poked holes in my gloves numerous times because of the diamond mounting. I have also lost a stone when it became loose~it's like searching for a lost contact. I vote for the simple plain band for work~it also keep you from being hit on by people who see you without a wedding ring on! LOL
